In that particular setup, the Maller had a definite role to play, heavy tackle. It took a long ass time to take it down, so they wanted the brick to hold things in place. There was a reason it was primaried instead of being ignored, it was holding them down.
The mistake was fielding all their other points in larger ships instead of leaving some utility slots, not fielding a maller. -- Kismeteer, carebear extraordinaire

3 T1 frigates would have melted in the face of Machariels, no doubt about it. If they'd have changed their setup a bit they could have made it work with frigate hulls.

I don't know if that the frigates could have held down the Macherials, especially with that vengeance on the field. Dropping a Tegnu and adding 3 ishkurs instead though, maybe 2 destroyers? That would be pretty great. -- Kismeteer, carebear extraordinaire

TBH Destroyers being cheap in points is a good thing, because from what ive seen most have just been free kills.

Lol - here is some hindsight (Kismeter is way wrong in his assumptions)...
The Maller was NOT for heavy tackle... The maller had a big armor buffer and and 2 damps. That might not have been the best use of 10 points but we didn't want to use smaller ships that would just die instantly as we didn't have a logistic ship to back us up.
Personally I would have liked a logistic, but we put on a focus towards having more dps than more tank.
This team was a big risc for us and it didn't pay off because Monks of War had a hardcore Logistic setup. Running without logistics are not recommended unless you can take out enemy faster than you die yourself and it just didn't work for us...
Was a good fight - If targets were prioritzed differently the setup wouldn't have looked as bad.
