First off, I'm surprised the camera man has not made use of one pure awesome effect: the missile view. Just select a missile mid flight and hit "look at" to take the POW of a missile as it travels to its target, one can even use the field of view change (right click + left click pressed) to add a cinematic effect.
Selecting a missile mid flight is a BIT tricky, one has to take the POW of the firing ship, look to it's target and select the now "static" missile.
I've heard several times the commentators of having problems with either locking or not being able to see the ships for various reasons. I must ask, are they positioned in a logic spot or in just a random place outside the arena? Since the arena is presumably 3D, and the mechanics favor a 2D placement of ships ... the BEST place to be, for a commentator of a 2D competition, is either above or below. So ... maybe they should be placed say ... 75km above the arena?
And the last thing "Leguinea Romana"? Seriously? It's "Legiunea Romana" and stands for "Romanian Legion"...
"Leguinea" ??? Can that be fixed please?
So far this Tournament is looking like a massive and very successful PR boost, congratulations. - Arkanon: EXPLAIN YOURSELF, EVILDOER! Sharkbait: Dude. - Bashing trolls since 2047. Which way does time go again? <_> |

Commentators should watch the live stream on a second monitor because they are always far behind when they report damage.

The problem that the commentators are having is that they are loosing locks. This happens when they accidentally double click in space and go to far. So while they set up in a good spot they some times double click while trying to look at the targets.
I agree with you it has been an awesome tourny so far, maybe we can break the number of viewers again next weekend :)

Not the commentators fault. They are keeping a eye on a lot things going on, not just damage. As well you need to factor in latency in their commentary. They are reporting from their own homes and respective country's during the first two weekends.
They view what their seeing in real time based on their ping with their Eve client. They comment back on it which is then broadcast back to CCP in Iceland. Then it needs to be rebroadcast back to the fans via the stream. That is going to throw what u see and what they comment outta sync at times.
As well Darius who is one of the commentators made a post earlier yesterday pointing out that what is displayed on the live stream is about 15 seconds behind what just happened in realtime. So they would not be able to use the stream to view a 2nd perspective to comment on unless u really want things to be outta sync.
I think they are doing a wonderful job so far.

Well, TBH if I was comentating I'd still have the live stream running muted on another screen just so I could glance over to it and get confirmation on things even with the time lag.
Of course that does assume running the live stream didn't lag out my voice comms/commentator screen.

I doubt it would lag anything, especially if set on medium/low def.
On a related note, what's up with all this wrong use of "decimation" ?
Decimation (Latin: decimatio; decem = "ten") was a form of military discipline used by officers in the Roman Army to punish mutinous or cowardly soldiers. The word decimation is derived from Latin meaning "removal of a tenth."[1]
Basically, the soldiers would stand courageously and wait for the officers to chop off the heads of one tenth of their group. Chop, chop, chop until only 90% of them remained. That's what decimation IS. - Arkanon: EXPLAIN YOURSELF, EVILDOER! Sharkbait: Dude. - Bashing trolls since 2047. Which way does time go again? <_> |

how about ccp give the commentators an unlimited lockrange shuttle with 20 lockable targets!!!! (SPECIAL EDITION!!!!)
it would let the teams remove shuttles from overview, wouldnt really break the game at all they are shuttles... and would work as a pretty nice thank you to the commentators who could sell them after the tourney!
and even if they dont want to give those camera boats out at least let them have them on the "camera accounts"
although... now that i think about it... the commentators also need to be doing look ats from any range in space! THIS GETS MORE AND MORE DIFFICULT!

No, they would be beaten to death by the rest of their own unit.

one for the camera man.
there is no point to look at the ship that is about to explode because the camera will instantly reset and you wont see the explosion :)
seen this a few times.
maybe look at then quickly hold right click and move camera ? i think that prevents it from resetting, doesnt it?
otherwise really nice work.
