Yo Viper
I assume this was directed towards CCP Claw.
I will update the rules to specifically ban probing in the tournament system.
Thanks for the heads up.

Hey also, you should get Stavros, Ifni and James to do commentary for next weekend (please, seriously). I'd like to be able to have sound on while the matches are playing but right now it's too painful. Oh, you and Kil2 can come too.
Thanks Clawdown.

Heres a crazy thought claw, could you not have just moved the two beacons away from each other, so that the combatants from one match cant scan down the ships fighting in the next? Or would that not be in the SPIRIT OF THE RULES too?

yo rivers, he replied in the other thread by shamis that he doesnt want teams playing a match to be able to scan the teams that will be playing next and forward this information to ?? (unknown? the spectators?)
so he put the beacons further away

There's a balance somewhere in there - make the beacons / spawns too close, then you can scan out the other team. But, make them too far away, and you're going to cap out the little frigs on their way into the arena. Depending on how fast they get the cameras set up etc, that could be problematic. --

The one that springs to mind would be waiting for the other team to deploy then warping tacklers on top of Logistics, etc... or even fleetwarping several short-range DPS directly on top of the enemy fleet whatever range they warp in at.
Just to clear up what they're all talking about - unless i missed the point too...

The reason for probing in tournament is to see what the other team's ship composition is before you choose what range you warp in (from 0 to 50 km).
In the past one was generally able to use directional scanner to figure it out before warping but they changed it so it hasn't got enough range (possibly depending on which beacons the teams chose).
Rules are quite clear about warping was never an option to use probes to warp on top of other team, probing however was allowed until viper made this stupid thread

And you sir have no manners, but i won't hold it against you.
thanks for the clarification - i was under the impression people could still see each other on directional.

That makes sense. I was under the impression that he was asking about probing during the match, hence my confusion.
