Hey MD,
Kinda noob here, so feel free to flame if what I'm saying makes no sense... but I was thinking the other day that the collosal PI ****up has radically decreased the value of large POS' for the foreseeable future.
Seeing as how many public bonds, investments and loans count POS' as their collateral, and seeing as how those were seen as largely stable assets prior to this patch, I'm wondering how this changes people attitudes toward what were previously 100% secured investments.

Not a single of the many audits I have done has used a POS as collateral.
POSes are:
- part of the assets calculated in the NAV and therefore a variation of value is deleveraged by the other assets. This happens regardless of the POS being used or not and why.
- used in the bond / IPO, in that case they act more as liability than collateral, in the sense that a wardec risks negating the investee profitability or worse. I still calculate them as part of the NAV but usually put the investee before two decisions: red flag / caution to the investors about this OR pay a merc corp to defend the POS and even suggest the investee a good defensive configuration (I'll do that, if the merc corps won't).

Are you implying POS are easy to produce? You obviously need to get a taste of PI.Prices won't remain at this level forever.Atm you still have stock from npc and the apoc bug. After they are gone we will see the real value of poses. knowledge is power |

One Stop holds some 17B in POS assets. However, that's less than 10% of total assets and they don't come into the equation for collateral on the secured bond.
Typically, POS assets are not used as collateral in bonds/IPOs. The reasoning is that they can't be locked down so the owner could walk with them.
Whether POS assets will increase or decrease in value in the medium to long term is anybody's guess at the moment. Let the dust settle first.
