When you store a ship in an orca/carrier, is it automatically packaged to take up less space?
For example: The orca has 40'000m3 of Corp Hangar Space. A packaged hulk takes up 2'500m3. Unpackaged, it takes up 200'000m3, according to evelopedia.
So are the ships automatically packaged, or do they just take up the same space they would have if packaged? Thanks! _____________________________________________

The ship maintenance bay in an Orca is for storing assembled (unpackaged) ships. Packaged ships cannot be stored here.
The corp hangar in an Orca on the other hand can only store packaged ships.
So it depends on where in the Orca you store your ship.
Situations where you must use the ship maintenance bay includes: * If you store it in the Orca while in space * If you want to be able to board it from the Orca in space * If the ship is rigged and you don't want to loose the rigs

Gaaah!
Sorry to be a grammar n**i but this is a pet hate. I wouldn't bring it up if the rest of it wasn't so competently written.

You're confusing the Corporate Hangar Bay with the Ship Maintenance Bay. Ship Maintenance Bay is 400,000m3, not 40,000m3.
