Edited by: zz01shagsme on 09/06/2010 08:30:27 hmmm well used to love this game, recently frustrated with blobbing and lag black screen ****, decided to try my luck at solo-ing and that bites too, either no one comes out to play or you get our blobbed.. Vicious circle
for the effort put into the game SISI is more fun atm....I mean tech 2 a ship including rigs go out fight get blown up and do it all over again....
The real game for me has come somewhat stagnant, still we see the blocks running the game, manufacturing doesnÆt really pay good isk, reaction poses are becoming the same, missioning is not an option playing against AI is not the type of game I want to play. Time constraints of RL means ratting and plexing can not be finished.
In before the burn posts, been with the game for 4 years now, seen it develop and would like to see it develop again....sort the lag out for a start, the one thing about the game is the ability to choose but it still seems very constrained. Take a look at human life, as soon as something has been developed someone else will bring out the same product but has been able to make it cheaper. We can't do this in the game. With my RL constraints I needed a way to make some isk whilst not in the game so that when I managed to sign in I could fit up a pvp ship and go get it blown up. Manufacturing doesnÆt seem to work, complex reactor rely too much on other resources which brings me back to the whole power block thing, they still influence the game too much in my opinion. Everyone plays the game to make isk and I have sat here and read many comments about risk and reward donÆt balance out and I didnÆt agree with it. Now I have changed the way I play the game my opinion has changed. For what its worth, the way I play my game is to sign in and PVP or try to make isk to pvp. Passive income in my opinion is the issue. For what its worth playing on SISI is more fun, can sign in and just go out and shoot **** without loosing anything but a 500k fit ship, but the same ship in Tranq would have cost 200 û 300mil.
Anyhow thanks for read, open to discussion not arsed if your going to flame me but really wanted to post my point of view that not everyone who plays the game spends 15hours a day glued to this screen just so at the end of the week we have some sort of enjoyment out of it. That is if your not lucky enough to have a highly valuable moon goo as your asset.

While I do enjoy sisi from time to time, I seriously doubt that sisi in the long run will be a fun playstyle, everyone fitted out to the max since nothing costs anything.
That could easily be replicated onto tq though - but in a different manner, kit out all you can in rookie ship
But then what do I know... I only mine on sisi as well

If you think the lagg is bad on tranq imagine it on sisi, you get traffic issues jumping into a dead region.
Also, seriously you enjoy sisi the only reason you can pvp on there is to test and adapt to upcoming changes (like t3 cruisers / moros changes etc) going on there purely to pvp for fun is pretty pointless. -- Emo TraderJohn's Number 1 Fan!! |

LOLz ^ like it...
By all accounts im not saying seed tranq like sisi, what I am saying is to open the game up a bit more so that moon goo is not the only way to make some passive isk.
I have gone full circle with this game, played in 2 hours a day, 8 hours a day, up to 15 hours for a spate of 6 months and RL brought me back down to 2 hour a day...In my opinion Risk & Reward dont balance, seems the game is more like a full time job just so we can PLAY the game.
Im hoping the game will get better. For example the unrefined reactions....great idea they just dont make anything....I am going to look into this whole planetary Interaction thing, but first impressions are once again the power blocks will influence this part of the game too much too.

This.
It provides no challenge, no risk, no real entertainment. Its a good platform to test some setups and ships, to get to know how your ship handles. But not much more. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I do not call black screening, lagging out, loosing millions of isk in a 20 v 1 ****ter, fun. I accept that if you go solo-ing this will happen but in a game built around money the routes to make money are very limited.

you mean like: farming datacores and playing the market?
sure, both need a certain investment of time and/or ISK to get going, but once set up it's good passive income.

I love how people think moon mining is passive isk
It requires way more effort then people think. Especially if you actually want to make some isk (since no one just mines an R64 or tech moon and sells the raws) you will have to babysit reactions and import/export stuff and its a huge hassle!

True I just never imagined they make much isk...
Even manufacturing battleships and playing them with the market doesnt make much. Complex Reactors with their initial investment and running cost and the risk of running it in low sec dont pay a great amount. It almost seems that what the game needs is a way to make something of real value that doesnt rely on some other type of material that isnt already relying moon goo. Take for example inventing, OK we have the complex reaction BPO for Ferrogel set at a certain output and input, human nature would mean that we would try everything in our power to decrease the amount of input needed and increase the amount of output. We can already do it with BPO's. Another example of RL is the model regarding time and quality, it states that in a manufacturing process the more time spent on the product the better the quality it is and the more you can charge, I think some people call it value based pricing where the value of the product to the customer is justified by the value it brings. In eve its 1 dimensional i spent this much so im going to add 10%. Hopefully this is making sense. I know you have faction ships and tech 2 ships and tech 3 and what not but how much of the end product is constrained by other resources?

I do not agree with that I have run and still running a complex reactor in low sec buying all four materials needed for the reaction running it backwards and forwards and the time it takes is ridiculous. The price i want to sell the end product at relies too much on the price of the moon goo available on the market which is in a backward kind of way the point I am trying to make. Take out the cost of 1 moon goo on a high end and youÆre looking at 3 imports and still making a lot of passive income. You spend 5 hours max sourcing it running it from where ever and spend an hour placing the three materials in your pos and leave.
Its a bloody good service you provide your initial investment is high running costs are relatively high but again your end price is already predetermined by your reliance on the other material you have used to make the end product.
In my opinion manufacturing shouldnÆt be about amounts of material and woohoo i have it so it will make this. Every product should have a little bit of everything as a standard but it should be your choice of how much of the material you put into the manufacturing process which effects characteristics of the end product. For example im going to use more ferrogel in this ship because it effects the Shield EM Resistance.
In my opinion the market place needs scrapping or a re-jig. E.g. Why buy a drill from this company that breaks down and needs replacing every 6months when if I buy from this company, they may be more expensive but it provides far better service. The point I am trying to make is there is no way of differentiating the service you provide and so much of the value of your service relies on too many other factors that in the end it becomes ôI cant play the game as much any more but need a way to make isk passively. I go into pos running or manufacturing, oh **** im going to need to invest 1 bill isk just to make 100milö.

Passive income = cheap ships
Cheap ships = easy disposable no risk PVP FUN! Right?!
No risk = eventual boredom as a "win" or "loss" has no value to either party.
In my experience the more expensive the ship Im in, the greater the heart hammering rush of PVP. If Im not putting something 'on the line' what's the point?

couldnt agree with you more. But you need isk to fit a ship and game has got very 1 dimensional and that is the more you play the more you make. In my opinon the model CCP has stumpled across doesnt seem to fit in with what CCP want to achieve. 12months ago i would have spent 15hours ratting to get enough isk to buy a shp, atm i can not do this. Again it is my opinion the game needs to be re-jigged so that manufacturing is not just a tick box exercise but a more vigorous approach to providing a service.

Yeah, I've always thought that TQ needed a non-penalizing mechanism for players to get together and fight it out, no costs, no loss of implants, standing, etc. Perhaps an agent system that allows players to connect and fight it out in deadspace. Players can fight solo or in team based matches, equipment provided by the agents fitted to one's skill level.
It would go a long way to make better PVPers by allowing what are effectively practice matches, but with a reward for the winner of the match. But that's just my opinion.
