Influence expands beyond an entities sovereignty and blocks out sov of other, smaller entities from showing on the map. It is nowhere near an accurate representation of the borders or accurate sov of an entity. Even verite acknowledges this as it is not what he/she has in mind for the map.
For example, CVA still holds sov in some Providence systems, yet that does not reflect since other entities hold more stations around their systems, thus they do not show up.

My alliance is a pet of IT. We, in these maps, considered IT influence. Fair enough.

Someone should really make a map like the old one OP posted again. Then again I'm just a map/politics junkie and I like seeing these.
