Since we cant effectively communicate our desires as a customer base if its some chaotic shouting match, I have put in a list.
Rules: - Put a + sign or a - sign next to the list to say whether its good or bad. - Add on one line maximum of the next thing you can think of that is broken or needs to be fixed for the betterment of the game. - No trolling and be serious. - Help us communicate better than CSM what we want from the game.

No, seriously, wrong subforum. You want Jita speaker corner or Assembly hall or something like that. And there's already one gigaassmothertruckinhuge thread there about basically this, without the viewpoint blur.

Ambulation. +++ I fully support CCPs vision of an all encompasing Sci-fi simulator.
Faction Warfare. + Alliances should not be the only large scale PvP in eve. That said, Faction Warfare needs a version 2.0.
Faction Warfare's orphaning. +This is a pretty ambiguous entry, but I assume you mean CCPs practice of abandoning old features for new shiny ones. As a whole, I actually like this approach, as teh game is constantly fresh unlike most other MMOs. That said, they should devote at least 1/3 of each expansion to updating old features.
Plant Interaction. + A small piece in the true vision of eve. And yes, Dust will bring combat and warfare to planets, it won't be carebear forever.
Classic Client removal. +++ No sane MMO company runs 2 separate clients. Anyone expecting both to stick around knows nothing about game development.
Medium Shader removal. - I think eve needs more graphics check boxes and settings like most other games have. Also, it's rediculous we don't have AA. This is an early DX9 limitation, many of us are on DX11 now...
Widescreen removal. = who cares tbh. pretty useless feature.
No rocket change. = CCP generally keeps up with weapon balancing. It takes time, but overall combat is fairly balanced and dynamic.
No additional interface tweaks or revamps. - We need a massive UI overhaul. This is a huge turn off for new players.
*the new one* Lag -CCP needs to get a move on revamping their server infrastructure from the ground up. The latest fiasco (we've had horrible lag for 6+ months in 0.0 warfare) shows that CCP need to expand the dev team working on low level server interactions and design a better system. Work in multi-core support somehow as well, even if you need an exotic solution. Many new up and coming MMOs use a much more granular approach to server loads that makes for a much smoother experience.

Anyone who posts in this thread is accepting of the direction CCP is taking EVE.
How do I know this?
Because they are posting in this thread. If they were unhappy, they couldn't very well post as they would have canceled their subscription.
Anyone who is not happy with the game and yet is still paying for a sub is an idiot and shouldn't be listened to anyway.

Your rules are silly, I don't really get them and I in fact enjoy chaotic shouting matches. I feel like ranting though so you get something.
Faction Warfare. Decent idea as a stepping stone to "real" (nullsec) pvp.
Faction Warfare's orphaning. Good example of the disturbing trend to half-assedly release something with the "perk" of being able to be upgraded/fixed in the future. Its flaws and lack of attention do bring people into real combat at least where they can engage in an even more frustrating and buggy experience (but at least with something real at stake). Flesh out the game you already have CCP.
Plant Interaction. Dumb. Maybe ok as an minor addition to a "real" expansion for people who want to get into it. The idea of exposing especially brand-new nubs to this version of a complex spreadsheet-based browser game on initial confrontation, followed by annoying micromanagement for the rest of your EVE days was especially horribad. The fact that it's such a huge part of the economy now means I feel obligated to engage in this disgusting, boring and annoying micromanagement BS for the rest of my EVE career really ****es me off.
Classic Client removal. No good reason for it. Graphics upgrades are great, but seriously did it take that much development time to let older systems still support this game?
Medium Shader removal. See Classic Client above.
Widescreen removal. Never used, but I can see why people would've taken advantage of the feature. Not a huge loss but again, not a good reason why it was removed.
No rocket change. Really surprising considering how long the community has whined and the consistent mentioning in every balancing discussion. Honestly however, at the end of the day, who really cares about frigs tho? Srsly... :p
No additional interface tweaks or revamps. OH MY GOD UPDATE THE UI ALREADY! An expansion solely dedicated to the UI (followed by several hotfixes and mini-updates: 1 patch ain't gonna cut it :p) would be the best thing CCP could do for their game atm. That and add more and better PVE. I am especially so frikkin sick of dealing with such inefficient and obtuse chat windows in an MMOG!

Ambulation +++++
Dear god, this. A thousand times, this.
EVE Online, as it stands now, is one of the most ingenious video games ever created, and supports one of the most uniquely enjoyable experiences I've ever had. The only thing that the game, nay, the world of EVE, is wanting for is roleplay. Those two neglected letters in MMORPG.
To put it bluntly, if Incarna is as good as the screenshots make it look, it will be the basis for one of the most robust roleplay experiences ever created. Better than the MUDs and tabletop games of old. I'm dying to see it come to life, and I hope against all reason that it will truly, finally be released this winter. It will make EVE complete.

Edited by: Terminal Insanity on 10/06/2010 07:57:16 + Ambulation: I cant wait for it, i think it'll be great. Complain all you want, but its a feature you DONT HAVE TO USE, and for the many who choose to use it, will love it.
+ Faction Warfare: Yeah, it could use some love, and they have tweaked it here and there, but not quite as much as they should. Its a great way to jump right into pvp. Its a wonderful way for newbs to learn, and anything that encourages pvp imo is a good idea.
+ Planitary Interaction: The release of tyrannis deployed the framework for something much, much bigger. If you have read the devblogs you'd know this. There are many features and new buildings that they will be adding in the coming year. Further, this is the beginning of Dust 514 interaction as well.
+ Classic Client removal: Sorry, but a $50 geforce 8800 can play this game without any problems, time to get a job. The removal of a rotting client means they are now only working on one game, instead of two. More hours put into developing this game's graphics is wonderful. I wish they'd remove the mac client as well tbh =P
- Medium Shader removal: finally something i can agree on, although i play on maximum, im not really sure why they would remove the medium...
+ Widescreen removal: If you dont have a widescreen monitor, WHY THE HELL ARE YOU PLAYING IN WIDESCREEN? its a huge waste of screen realestate. I've heard the excuse that it improves performance.... this is ******ed. If you cant afford a 50$ videocard you probably shouldnt be playing pay-as-you-go videogames.
+ No rocket change: so?
+ Interface tweaks or revamps: Fitting Window, Fitting Saves, Overview Tabs/Saves, Mail, Contacts, Event Calendar, EveGate, PI interface. I could go on. They have upgraded it, you're just blind/ignorant. Are you just wanting them to redesign the whole game UI every couple years?

Faction Warfare/Faction Warfare's orphaning Not sure if FW can be called a great success, I don't see a lot of people doing it. The standings matter is always an issue that criplles the game imo.
Plant Interaction Perhaps nice but unncecessary. A mini-game inside a game. Imo there should be more focus on the "core" game, I don't think it has a lot of added value or impact on how the game is played or percieved by the average player.
Widescreen removal Also a non-issue. Although I used it because it looks nicer and I could see if modules are switched on, it's very hard to see sometimes with those light clouds.
No rocket change Again a detail. Although an improvement would be welcome and would open up more ships; balancing is very important.
This is only my first year of playing EVE and somethings really surprise me.
- Factions. On the one hand you can mix ships and races at will, on the other hand missions are limited by the faction mechanism. Also FW suffers from this. If my corp decides to do a WH for a few weeks and the entrance moves to another factions space you suddenly can't get out without being attacked instantly. You can't do contracts in hostile space. On the other hand you can have very good standings with a corp of a faction you're hostile with?! Imo the faction standings thing isn't been done very well.
- Insurance. I really don't see the sense in this at all. It's completely unrealistic and artificial.
- Insignia. It's very confusing for a starting player; some appear to be very useful (for LP stuff) but others are completely useless. I still don't have any idea about the use of some insignia. Freedom fighters? Bodyguards? I'd say either give them a clear description or remove the useless ones alltogether.
- Learning skills *cough*. Totally ridiculous imo. I like the skill system (although it's too slow) but learning skills and remaps won't win prizes.
- Ships. Why the assymmetrical thing? I can imagine one factory would do that but all factions and all corps? It's very unrealistic. And they are all so very much alike! I mean: space, thousands of systems and hundreds of years of differentiation - yet their ships have exactly the same PG, CPU, sensor strenghth (within a very small margin) ... ?? Same with weapons.
- PvP .. implants anyone? I don't mind losing ships but implants are a major pain. I know it stops a lot of people from engaging in some casual skirmish PvP and it shouldn't.
- PvE vs PvP. Really too bad that ships are so specifically fit for either of them. For example the whole lowsec missions stuff suffers from it. Imo the game would improve if missions became more PvPesque. More challenging and solving (a large part of) the PvE lowsec mission problem.
Next to that EVE is getting better. But I'd rather seen that they attend to abovementioned core sthings instead of PI which really is of minor importance for the game itself compared to some core game mechanisms.

I think this needs to be addressed. Every time i'm helping a newbie out, i always tell them, train your learning skills! It makes a HUGE difference... but then the newbs spend 2 or 3 weeks training learning, and having no fun. The alternative is to train their 'fun' but then they they're kinda shooting themselves in the foot, in the long-run.
This only damages a new player's experience imo...
remove learning skills all together, and reduce training times to match that of having all your learning trained to +5/+4.

Not many games hold my attention for as many years as Eve has (5 that is so far and counting).
As I approach the 100m Skillpoint club, I've been deciding whether or not to keep playing or retire and sell the character. I don't think I could honestly ever sell up though - it's just too fascinating a virtual world to let it go.
I love CCPs direction overall - the fact that the game keeps evolving, changing keeps it interesting for me, and keeps me coming back.
I would hazard a guess that the older players who are still around also generally feel the same. Whether or not we like each particular change and evolution of the game, change is good.
The other part I really like about Eve is the constant new blood to the player base. New blood gives new perspective on the game, and definitely makes the forums a great spectator sport :)

Same here.
The only thing I don't like is that the UI, which was bad 5 years ago, still hasn't been updated. Tweak the gameplay all you like CCP, sometimes it's better, sometimes, worse, but as the poster above says, it keeps it interesting. But I'd rather not wrestle with the terribad UI to play this game. Corp management, POS management, there's just so much clicking, so many badly laid out screens, so many little workarounds you have to learn...

Edited by: Ti''anla on 10/06/2010 15:24:58 Ah stuff it, I could never hold off on giving my opinion in the end.. so sorry for falling back on my stance on not posting in the requested format, here's my 'proper' reply >.>; 'Fraid you're not going to get one line reasons out of me, though, not with explanations underneath.
Ambulation Incarna: + For me, the most anticipated feature. Once Incarna is fully implemented, EVE will be 'complete' in the sense that in my eyes, it'll have finished building up the framework for its 'complete sci-fi simulation', and the focus can comfortably fall back on filling out the frame.
Faction Warfare: + Limited experience of this feature, but like it as a concept and like hearing the little reports about it and stuff. It's never inconvenienced me at all so no negative.
Faction Warfare's 'Orphaning': + Sorry what? How's this any more significant than any other incomplete, will some day be fleshed out feature? + Because it isn't bothering me.
Plant Interaction: - Worst 'expansion' evar!!!11! **** CCP and the dev they employed 'ever thought this was a good idea! EVE IS DEAD!!!!!
Planetary Interaction: + Great idea. Not screaming its praises right now 'cause it's at too nascent a stage to know anything about its effects or success, not to mention way to vague an idea of what it's eventually going to be. 'Glad it's got development resources allocated for the next few dev cycles, though.
Classic Client Removal: + Whatever frees up devs for other work instead of putting them on maintaining a whole 'nother piece of software's for machines rappidly becoming extinct is fine by me. When classic was dropped, the two were beginning to become utterly dissimilar, and the old one's code was supposedly becoming outright arcane. Current client even runs passably on my cruddy, near-decade-old (admittedly kinda pricey at the time) laptop so I'm not seeing a big issue.
Medium Shader removal: + Ditto. Besides, wasn't this feature just made redundant anyway? 'Guess I wouldn't know, though - it's either minimum settings on laptop or max on desktop, here.
Widescreen Removal: + Never used it, more devs being productive, outright ugly from what I've seen of the feature when it was in.
No rocket change: - Okay this one was a little bit odd. No huge bother to me, but a bit odd nonetheless.
No additional interface tweaks or revamps: + Sorry what? There were a few in Tyrannis, mostly minor little fixes and invisible optimisations, but you'd have to be half-blind to not notice any. And that's not even mentioning the Calendar, the fittings window additions and modifications, EVE Gate.. I'm leaving this one to incremental fiddling over expansions.

Dear OP,
I'm quite certain they (CCP) are doing what they can to keep EVE the most awesome game made since Elite II.
What I would personally love to see is consistent UI design. Other than that, I will adapt or (most likely) be blown to bits. I have never tried to interact with plants, but I will try it and let you know what I think about this new and exciting, yet unannounced, feature.
Other than that, I find Tyannis to be the best expansion evarÖ; the ammount of delicious forum tears is delightfully high.
That is all. Additionally, it really infuriates me, when people use some pointless rant about signatures as a sig. |

How to fix Eve:
1: Make bounties viable. 2: Fix wormholes so that they do not simply go to a set number of predetermined locations dependent on sec status - but anywhere as they should do. 3: Fix factional warfare (rank achieved by killing enemies, not doing missions). 4: Put engine trails back in and stop fixing other things that aren't broken. 5: Fix the things that are broken; ie: ships bigger than stations... you can salvage but not tractor/loot wrecks without getting flagged (???wtf???). 6: Add more space, as in a near infinite amount reaching out further than you could travel in a day. 7: Give us something to search for, to explore for - hidden awesomeness, loot etc, floating about. 8: Other stuff that is blatantly obvious... are AF's still useless? I'm not sure.
There's my list.
OR
Rollback two years.
