Hi
I'm very new and I talked to someone and he said I have to go to low security to play but that makes me very nervous because I don't want to get my ship lost, and if they blow up my pod, what happens to my goggles and things if I bring them? |

no, if your new stick to high sec for the while, although eventually you will want to come to 0.0 to play.
Stay in high sec or join a 0.0 that welcomes new players. Best advice I can give you get in a corp straight away.
Never give your new corp any money or any of your stuff, if they ask it's a scam.

You wont loose your goggles and **** if you get podded.
You will loose skill points if you dont update your clone to carry the current number of SP you have.
You dont have to go any where in this game if you choose not to. Your friend is just encouraging you not to stay trapped in empire and limit your self to care bear activities.
For starters though its a good Idea. In a fast frigate or shuttle and good maneuverability skills you can get through lowsec completely un harassed as you'll be too fast to be caught.
Space ship command +5% to ship agility per level

You can play the game just fine staying in highsec; you just won't have easy access to certain activities. Anyone who tells you otherwise is pulling your leg.
As for as your goggles and stuff (I assume you mean the Nightstalker things that you can put on your avatar), if you are wearing a piece of clothing or other accessory on your avatar - that is, you've gone into the character customization tool, put them on, and then saved a new portrait - and are podded, you'll still have them when you wake up in your home station.
Anything fitted to your ship or carried in its cargo has a chance of either being destroyed or surviving and being looted by other people if the ship is blown up, and any implants you have plugged in will be destroyed if you are podded. |

I've lived in low-sec exclusively for the past couple of years, and it is perfectly viable. You should however, do your homework before going there since it can be dangerous if you are ill-prepared.

Just a forewarning so you at least think about it before it happens: you can lose your ship even without going to lowsec. Even to other players. Just because CONCORD will blast any potential attacker to bits after the first shot doesn't mean that that first shot won't still kill you. |

Stay in high sec until you have enough ISK to be able to afford ship losses without a problem.
How much ISK that is depends on what kind of ships you are flying and what activities you are doing in Low sec. If you have 10 million isk and you're flying a ship that costs 5 million isk... I wouldn't go into low and stick to making money in high sec, since losing that ship would mean half your wealth is lost.
If you are flying a ship that costs 5 million isk and you have 100 million in your wallet... then by all means, give Low a try. The more time you spend in low, the more you'll learn how to navigate it safely. You'll never be 100% safe, but as you get more experience, you'll learn to dodge gate camps and learn how to protect yourself from pirates, reducing your ship losses.
With any luck, whatever you are doing in low sec will more than pay for the ships you lose. There are economic opportunities to be had that cannot be found in high sec.
In the cat-and-mouse game that is low sec, there is no shame in learning to be a better mouse. |

your goggles will be fine if they're on your face.
sometimes even in highsec your ship will get blown up.
the best thing for you to do is station trading if you don't want to get your ship blown up.
