Edited by: Rellana1 on 11/06/2010 09:55:18 In one of my forst colonies I tried to mine everything on the planet and I don't have quite enough extractors, with 2 basic factories and 2 advanced to keep my factories running around the clock. Would I be better to demolish some of my factories and re-structure?

Depends on what your Command Centre is
i am ranking mine up to level 5 for the best one but got a level 3 one down atm.
bear in mind that each processor can refine the materials from 2 extractors without any loss, I have seen people setting up chains with like 8-10 extractors on a single Processor.
best thing to do is work out, are you jsut mining resources? or are you going to make T1-2-3-4 items? then work back from that.

Edited by: Rellana1 on 11/06/2010 10:34:11 I was going for both Minature electronics and Construction blocks to make Smartfab Units but doing it all on one high-sec planet is proving taxing on my adv CC's avaliable PG,with the number of factories,lauchpad,and extractors I need to keep everything running. I also have some long links,as some of my extractors are located away from my storage by quite a bit. I've posted a screenshot,so you can see what I'm talking about.null

Try linking the extractors and sending less lines back with the goods, might save you a lot of CPU and PG.

Edited by: Ki Shodan on 11/06/2010 13:45:15 In High Sec you can link at least 3 Extactors thru one extraktor, even at minimum cyletime. Unless you have found a very high Resource deposit. If you have created those links you can create a route to the Launchpad using the link from one.
eg. you have 4 extractors instead of linking each to the launchpad you link the one that is nearest to the launchpad to the launchpad, then the other 3 extractors to the first extractor. This will make 3 short links instead of 3 long links.
You now can create routes from all 4 Extractors using only one long link.

LOL - just like a kid in a candy shop
A few tips: 1. If you have the ISK, don't worry about nuking everything but the CC. If possible, don't nuke the launchpad either - it is 1M and may have goods in it. 2. In hisec, more than 1 adv processor is a waste if you are extracting on the planet. It will sit there most of the time waiting for inputs. 3. focus on 2 to 3 raw resources per planet. You need to think multiple planets
In my hisec setups, an advanced CC gives me 14-15 extractors spread over 3 resources, 3 basic processors, 1 launchpad, and 1 adv processor. Every day or two, I switch the adv processor between 2 P2 products and I run 23 hour cycles. It will take me 40 days to fill up the launchpad.

I've managed to get the following on an advanced CC:
* 14 extractors + 2 BIF + 3 AIF + 2 spaceports (Oceanic) * 15 extractors + 2 BIF + 2 AIF + 2 spaceports (Plasma) * 16 extractors + 2 BIF + 1 spaceport (Gas)
The key is placing at minimal distance. It helps to place, but don't submit, something anywhere first. When you place too close, you don't have to select the PIN from the menu again. You can then demolish the first PIN (not CC) without paying a penalty, because you haven't submitted.
