Edited by: Star Striker on 14/06/2010 05:50:05 My PI Optimizer is aimed for people who want to quickly evaluate the best way to extract resources from a planet.
The tool shows you what kind of setups you can expect to run on a planet, while being as effective as possible, hauling stuff as seldom as possible.
To use this tool efficiently, it is assumed you already know quite a lot about PI. There are lots of tutorials on t3h internetz already about PI. An integrated guide about the linking and routing strategy is under way, however.
This is the very first beta - coded overnight , so comments, feedback and suggestions are most welcome. Many ideas are already brewing.

Very nice tool.
It might be nice if it would tell you, that your current setup isn't balanced and you need a higher command center.
Plus a matching image would be a plus, but its fine as is.

Edited by: Quetazal on 14/06/2010 12:24:00 Would this setup not give you a better option, as launch pads offer an extra 50% store for the same power?

Quetazal: Storage facilities will in deed be replaced by launch pads in a coming version. They just eat a lot of CPU. Thus, I'm bringing in CPU checking also, although that will not have a big part in the GUI.
The Huffarunier: Yes, more images to represent more accurately the current setup would surely be nice. Coming soon.
Jackomel: I have planned those features, yes. P3-P4 production/hauling planning for multiple planets (managing your saved planets) is something we'll see eventually...
Thanks very much for the initial feedback! Keep it coming!

Thank you; this is great!
Interesting - in a math geek sort of way, not a criticizing your wonderful tool - was the discontinuities.
I started out at Adv/800/23h with P1 and P2. It said 2/0/13/4/2 with output of 360/hr tried Adv/1400/23h with P1 and P2. It said 2/0/12/4/2 with output of 360/hr
So increasing my extraction by 75% (800->1400) did not change my output but increasing extraction from 1400 to 1500 increased output by 50%.
I assume 1400 extractors will be generating more P0 than the 800s. And i can look at the 71% P1 to see the excess is accumulating as P0? have I got it?

ChrisIsherwood,
For the current version of the tool, the calculations do work as expected. The reason why you get the same amount of P2 processing power with both 800/cycle and 1400/cycle is this:
* The tool always opts for perfect P1 -> P2 processing ratio. This means there shall always be twice the number of P1 processors compared to P2 processors. * The tool currently seeks more gladly for a P1 efficiency of less than 100. It currently trusts that users will likely forget resurveying their extractors every now and then.
I'm currently improving the intelligence of the suggest algorithm. It should work better in a few hours, when I'm releasing version 0.5, which also checks for CPU requirements, and fixes a major bug in the GUI. Stay tuned.
Thanks for pointing this out.

v0.5 has been released.
* Heavy tweaking on P0/P1/P2 analyzing for the best results. * P1 and P2 calculations take P0 extracting capability into account when P1 processing capability exceeds it. * CPU checking support for mega-storage fans.
* Code rewriting and changes to support P3 production and refills from other planets in the future (Not promising any time table)

VERY nice job dude.
perhaps in a later release you can suggest items that can be produced on a given planet?

Great tool. May I suggest an enhancement that allows you to calculate what is required for mining N number of resources on a planet?
E.g. If I am on a lava planet and want to extract felsic magma & heavy metals.

That's a pretty cool tool.
However, because I'm in HighSec at this time and my extractor yields are very low (~500 average) I've discovered that with a little reconjiggering you can use only two Basic Processors and One Advanced Processor giving you four more extractors and still spit out P3 parts. It means you've got to flip the schematics every few days and it creates waste because you can't back out material from the processor storage, but it works quite well for an 0.5 system. _________________________ . . . but that's just me. |

The suggestion for Improved CC with 700 resource extractors doing both P1 and P2 seems wrong.
It says to build 4 P1 and 2 P2 processors, when you only have 11 extractors. There isn't enough extra bulk to provide resources for those other processors on any normal schedule, I suppose there wont be waste in storage, but I dunno.

Licinius CrassusFilius: Thanks for suggesting - you're not alone. Two parallel P0 cycle setups will be supported soon.
The Huffarunier: Agreed, currently the tool always tries to match P1 processors to full P2 capacity. In your case, I agree, 3 P1 and 2 P2 processors would be a wiser setup. Thanks for pointing this out. I will improve the suggestion intelligence to support these types of scenarios.
Once our planetary skills replicate on Sisi, I will have much more time to emphasize also on high sec and low sec planets' typical P0 outputs.
Thanks for the feedback (and donations) again!

Can you tell us in general what you used to do this? is it just javascript? I'm a noob to java/html etc, love to know how you did this in general, DON'T give away any trade secrets :)
I'll send isk when I get home for sure.
my only suggestion is to allow entry of component market prices or in the future allow entry of schematics and then pull the prices from eve-central
borders on EFT greatness :) ____________________________

It uses server side processing, mostly. Technology is Adobe ColdFusion 9. I've been working with CF since 1997. Upcoming versions will also use MySQL database.

Sure. :) Price calculations are definitely on the planning list - but not yet the top priority. Oh, and, Eve-Central does not seem to support planetary commodities - at least not yet.

I would like to see a simple side app that lets you enter the end product (P2, P3, P4) and the program gives back the 'steps' or intermediate resources needed and the planet(s) types where these can be found.
Uniwiki basically has this in table format but it is a PITA to flip back and forth and the planet icons on the left edge of the tables do not print out well enough to be easily recognizable.
Great app, thanks

Edited by: EvilCheez on 24/06/2010 19:57:57 Maybe add a field for planet size. I have a 8000 radius and another with 85000 radius and although my pin placement is not perfect, I still think size is a big reason there are 3 more structures on the small planet.
isk sent - thanks
