Science currently has no explanation for the lighting that was forming in and around the ash plume; the theory is the particulates being emitted from the volcano are producing a large amount of friction and thus the lightning. It is a pretty common occurrence within an eruption plume like that occurring in the Eyjafjallajokull volcano. |

weird really you never stop to think of the effect this volcano had to the people of Iceland itself rather than just think about the effect it had everywhere else
