Greetings fellow space traveling folks, i was wondering which faction could be regarded as the underdog. I've tried looking it up but the only info i found was from 2007 or even before that, so i would like to know which faction is the underdog today?
Thanks in advance. :)

I would have to say the oompa loompa faction is probably the least played.
Sure, they're not big and strong but they make great Slurm.
No..wait, that was the Grumpa-Lumpas.

PVE: Caldari Amarr Gallente/Minmatar (tied)
PVP: Amarr Minmatar Gallente Caldari
At least from the most popular ships I see EFT, commented on, and in kill mails. Certain ships are prefered for certain reasons, like missile boats and lasers popular for killing certain NPCs where as Minmatar and Gallente don't really have uber ships but do have versatility (armor/shield/drones) or that guns are prefered over missiles in most PVP with amarr for long optimal and minmatar for their capless autocannon boats where as caldari limited to a few with optimal bonus unless you fly a drake brick tank for baiting. there are exceptions though, so I could be wrong.

Thanks for this informative reply, so it would seem it all sort of evens out.

PVP: Amarr Minmatar Gallente Caldari
I would alter those rankings as follows:
PVE: Caldari Amarr Gallente - The Ishtar gives them a clear win for 1/2 of nullsec. Minmatar
PVP: Amarr Minmatar Caldari / Gallente
On the PVP end, until four months ago it would have been correct to rank Gallente ahead of Caldari. The Tengu, the viability of Rokhs and even Ravens now that shield logis are common in fleets (the AOE DD demise means the 100k EHP armor tank is out of fashion), and the rise of sniper hac/bcs fleets (for which caldari hulls far outshoot gallente), all would actually place Caldari ahead of Gallente if it weren't for a few recent developments on the Gallente side (The RR Dominix blob -- old but coming back in style + the Armor/Sig tanking Ishtar in Armor/Sig tanking hac fleets).

>Minmatar at bottom in PvE both times >Maelstrom >myface _____ ^ That is a sig line. It should be there without me having to put one in. |

pff I was gallente the first time I rolled with a trial account, cause I looked up the ships and wanted them. I afterwards rolled amarr, because althought they dont look as fancy, there's an understated elegance. I was amarr before it was popular.

The OP asked for the faction that's least played, not the ships - well this is the answer :)
@OP: The reason why there's so many Caldari is because "in the old days" they used to get the best starter attributes (you didn't start 8 8 7 8 8 regardless race like now). An Caldari is still regarded as having the best/easiest PvE ships.

I realise this, it would be somewhat nice if there were any relevance to the race you choose at the start. There might as well be 1 race to choose from today.
