And NOT give you ships at the end of a storyline tutorial, the Iteron, that you cannot train to fly untill you pay for the full game.
This is probably been gone over 1000s of times before, but nowhere during signup does it say the game is restricted to certain ships! I also cannot see the point of giving a ship away that you cannot fly until you cough up the readies for the full game, whats the point? |

That's the whole point of a free trial. To entice you to subscribe to the full game. Be glad the game even has a free trial available, many games don't have demo versions at all. |

Post on the forums
So how come I can then?
Its not really a biggy, as I intend to sign up anyway, but it would be nice if newbies, such as myself, could read this before signing up. |

Working as intended. Giving you an indy ship at the end of the tutorial mission serves a few purposes. It alerts brand new players to the existence of industrials...an entire class of ship they may not have realized even existed.
To a brand new player, the fact that a ship class exists that is tailor made for hauling, rather than combat, speaks to the fact that EVE can be played in many different ways.
A player who might not be too keen on combat but sees the potential for the economic aspect might be encouraged to subscribe when they see this shiny new industrial ship and picture what they can do with it and how easy it would be to train for.
It worked on me when I was a new player. I subscribed only 4 days after being on my free trial because I wanted to fly those industrials sooner rather than later.
In the cat-and-mouse game that is low sec, there is no shame in learning to be a better mouse. |

Yep, understand you. I am signing up this weekend. Would have done it today, but the amount of work I have got for rest of the week, till Friday, says I won't be online much anyway |

Certain skills aren't trainable on trial accounts because CCP doesn't want someone to be able to start a new trial, train an industrial (for example), use it for a couple weeks, then trash the account and start another free trial. Considering you can train the skills to fly an Industrial in under a day (I think), no one would ever need to pay for a second account to haul their crap around (barring freighters, of course). Just wondering, but if you did see it ahead of time would you say "Nah, i guess I won't try EVE after all since I can't train to fly indy ships on the trial... whatever those are"
The trial limitations are so veteran players can't abuse free accounts, not to restrict content from new players. |

Still would have tried EVE, but at least I wouldn't have bothered buying the Gallente Industrial book for over 200,000 ISK knowing I could not do the training.

That's cause not every tutorial runner is a trial account. I never did a trial account, I subscribed for one month to see if I liked it. So could use the indy ship straight away.
Also, works as intended.
You can't use it cause, ANYTHING that will suit a new player / trial account will suit a veteran even MORE.
Giving trial accounts the ability of using haulers means ANY player in EVE could make unlimited trial accounts do to their hauling for them. Inject your skillbook before you leave the station. It might seem like a lot early on, but the 200k is a drop in the ocean compared to what you'll be making even a couple weeks into the game.

The reason that ships are restricted isn't to entice people to buy the game, stop kidding yourself. The restriction was put in place a couple years ago because botters could create trial accounts and grind courier missions in cheap industrials to make not-insignificant money and then just make new accounts when the old trials got banned.
OP: It's just the unfortunate side effect of CCP's war on botters, which used to be a rather massive problem. Fortunately 200K ISK is pretty much trivial even for new players so you aren't particularly out much. If you do the Sisters of EVE epic arc (pretty much the expanded tutorial) You'll end up with some 40+ mil worth of stuff.
Fortunately, there's pretty damn near nothing you would need an industrial ship for in your trial days. |

Uh... You know what it says on the gallente industrial skill book when you look at the description tab:
"Skill at operating Gallente industrial ships. Can not be trained on Trial Accounts."
You can see that without buying it.
In fact that little piece of info is tagged to thousands of skill books.
If you dont plan on doing a lot of reading in this game your going to have a lot more complaints like^ this before you sub.
I dont know how many people read before they play but it must be greater the 5%.
Those people who actually do there homework before hand are rewarded greatly by this game.
By the way a lot of people appreciate the depth and complexity of this game because they have to think and research before they act. It isn't straight up complete task receive bacon.
Also you could have put out a cheaper buy order and waited if you didnt want to pay 2oo k for the book Noir. and Noir Academy are recruiting apply at www.noirmercs.comI Noir Academy: 60 days old must be able to fly at least one tech II frigate. I Noir. Recruits: 4:1 k/d ratio and can fly tech II cruisers. |

Agree with everything above. This is a good lesson to learn early in EVE. |

The trial is meant to get you to buy the game, not just to give you 14-21 days of free game time. |

Limitations are there to discourage bots and gold sellers, there's no other reason for the limits on trial accounts, 2nd reason is likely to reduce alt recycling to more manageable levels. |

Yeah when i started you picked the career before ever seeing your first ship and you only got that agent.
Back then there was only 3, now there are 5 and you can run all of them
Industry gives a Navitas Business gives an Iteron Military gives a Atron and a Tristan New - Advanced Military gives a Catalyst New - Exploration gives a Navitas and an Imicus at the end The Drake is a Lie |

1) You're complaining that your FREE TRIAL, didn't warn you about one of the restrictions, because if it had, you wouldnt have brou... oh wait, it was FREE. You effectively complaining about something you got for nothing as if you want a refund. I have sent you a full refund for your free trial, using my mind lasers.
2) If you look at the iteron skillbook it litterally says "Cannot be trained on trial accounts", its you're own fault for not reading the skill description before spending so much of your isk on it. |

I'm subbed and there is still a TON of stuff I can't fly! Don't complain about ships being given to you you can sell that ship and buy one you can fly with the ISK. I don't see the problem here, and as a developer I can understand why one would restrict a trial. It would be far to easy to abuse. |

This is not CCP's fault.
