Was sitting here this morning thinking, an I realized something a lot of MMO's had that EVE doesn't...
NPC events. For instance in Asherons call 1 we had the shadow wars, where 1000s of NPC's attacked all the towns an people had to fight to save their gear an houses etc etc...
SWG had the Sand people attacks on towns, players had to defend towns an each other, so truces had to be signed between alliance an empire,. So Jedi's etc could all fight alongside each other.
EvE....
Would be nice to have say a "Angel war fleet" attack Jita or some of the outlining systems, maybe have full cap fleets ?? randomizing the systems so none can "farm them"
Would be fun to have the eve TV's have a news flash that War has been declared by the factions against x-y-z race...?
Dont tell anyone how long it goes for, ro "exactly" where, maybe put it into the storyline that concord "intelligence" etc etc estimates where they are gonna be at any given time.

stations are pretty much invulnerable. and eve is a sandbox, you can sit docked 23/7 if you so choose
they were having events with sansha invasions but they seemed to stop

yes I know stations are invulnerable, but that doesn't mean yuo cant program into the game events where they get damaged by NPC's. Maybe after one such raid is beaten off, if the station reseives any damage, things like medbay or mission agents are unavailable for a time to allow"for repairs" .... whatever you want to write into the thing.

You do undock right? This kind of thing has been happening since EvE's inception, albeit with a short break, and is currently happening as I type this poast.

Ive been playing eve for 5 years mate off an on, with 6 months break when Max Damage 1 happened. Never seen a full blown NPC raid yet.

Then you are doing it wrong. I have participated in Guristas invasions, Serpentis invasions, Sisters Of Eve escort fleets, only to name a few, and haven't even participated in the almost daily Sansha invasions that are have been happening for the last month due to lack of interest.
Mqaybe check the IGS forums where you know, the roleplayers hang out as this is kind of their cup of tea, join some of the intel channels, and get in on the action?

i didnt even know there were things like the sansha invasions happening, where they were, or how i could participate in them X.x
i saw the in-game news about some sanshas wormhole but that confused me more than told me what was really happening (i know sanshas are npc)

Events like this are happening every day, every hour, in the majority of the EVE universe. Just yesterday, our alliance assembled a fleet of several dozen people and raided and succesfully destroyed an enemy starbase.
If you decide not to participate in any of the events and stay in NPC-land forever, that is your choice.
