Edited by: Anaxis Muntaine on 20/06/2010 14:20:56 Hey guys - I was checking into Red v Blue, as I've gotten quite bored with PvE and just want to be able to PvP whenever I want (not just when a corp says so). Is this still an active group? Most of the threads on the forums are old and locked, and the last I'd heard it was kinda dead. Anybody know? Trolls, suggestions, comments welcome.

Just droped out of it to make some more money. It is plenty active and I was having a blast until the wallet got low. Most people fly T1 cruisers and frigs so its not too expensive to keep replacing ship. Also, there are events almost every weekend such as frig/cruiser FFA, the pretty awesome Industrial FFA, 2v2 tournaments and a lot more. Convo me or send me a mail if you have any more questions or just join the R-V-B channel.

It is both very active, and very awesome. Just take a look at the killboards.
So far i've spent about 2 billion in ships and mods and rigs, but got at least that much back from loot and insurance, so it need not bust your wallet.
There is a good mixture of vets and noobs. From one vet to another, the lure of RvB relative to other PvP opportunities is learning to PvP with skill and tactics rather than just outnumbering or outshipping your targets.

Very much active, very much fun. Like said above, join R-V-B channel in game. Not sure where it was based before it went dead, but currently based out of Alentene/Tourier in Verge Vendor.

Actually RvB (2) is now in the original systems where the first iteration of it started off, glad to see it's still running along nicely :)

Oh yes, it is active and entertaining. More activity in one night than you will see in most corps in a week (or two). I know I come across as a fanboi, but with over two years of play time with a couple of characters, this is most fun and most PVP I have seen.
Just come with a fun mindset, expect to lose ships and think a bit differently. It is not "win at all costs" but "win with something close to what the other guy has." It is about getting fights, not simply winning.

Orion is semi-retired atm.
You can think what ever you want. But the reality is that we don't have to fake posts like this because RVB offers something that a whole lot of people in EVE want.
Near instant PVP action and lots of it.
Of course if I had a combat record like Etoche's I might be a little butthurt too. Whatsamatter we pop too many of your ships? Were you in Blue or a part of one of the fail war decs against us?

RvB has kind of slipped though. I think it might have to do with Orion being semi-retired. He was a good FC and managed to keep it more or less balanced. When I rejoined, as a part of Red Fed there were way too many times both sides shipped up to T2 and BS, and it seemed the composition was a lot less newbie and low sp, and more bored alts or high sp players. I didn't stay this time long.
It's still worth it for PvP because of the conventions (no podding or ecm, 1v1 honored.) They need to get a better reign on their leadership though.

Blue's have had a rough month. They've had two CEO's leave in a very short period of time due to RL concerns and they're reeling a bit from the leadership vacuum. Red on the other hand has a very solid leadership team. And the difference shows on the fight outcomes.
This of course presents a nice opportunity for any experienced or aspiring FC's to come in and take a leadership role in Blue Republic.
Just have a good attitude and don't go all emo butthurt when you lose a fight.

Nope m8, the original RvB started in Hek and used just 2 stations in the single system until it outgrew that (and had attracted enough publicity from the locals) and moved to Ale/Tour.

See you did exactly what I said you would, get all ****y and have a go at ppl who dare to talk any negativity against rvb, tbh its quite sad that I said you would do it, but you still couldnĘt help yourself, your like a pack of rabid dogs.
And as you wont be adult about it I will, I like rvb, I liked it a lot when I flew in it, I think it does a good service, but its ppl like you that give rvb a bad name and make ppl hate it as you come across like some sad, freaky religious zealot.
Good day to you.

Funny how you were the one who started bashing them isnt it, *****ing that they defend themselves when someone starts talking **** about them is just a tad ******ed you know.
Considering theres 3 or 4 posters who seem to make a habit of trying to **** in RVBs cheerios whenever they get mentioned I dont blame them for being quick off the mark.

Yup Raimo is right, RvB 1 began in Hek.
Although when we outgrew Hek we didn't go to Tourier/Alentene first. Reds stayed in Hek, Blues moved a few jumps away, towards Rens. Tourier/Alentene came after that.

Hek was pretty fun, both HQ's in the same system, ppl ratting/mining in the area and around 100 in each corp. :) --- I smack just for myself. Allow faction cap boosters to be traded via normal market ! |

For some reason these R-V-B guys always try to make it sound better than it is. A few days ago I decided to check it out and was told to join Blue. While moving a lot of frigates and some cruisers(because that's what they claim to fly right?)to the office in alentane all I saw was a blob of red battle cruisers camping the blue station and a whole bunch of smacktalk. Blue were undocking in battleships and playing docking games for most of the time and I didn't see anything which resembled a 'gf'. This went on for about 4 hours before I left to see how the action was in reds home system. Tourier had only 2 red members and no blue. Anyhow, I returned last night to see exactly the same thing going on.
Anyone thinking of joining R-V-B needs to ignore the propaganda that R-V-B leadership spout and go to the systems of tourier and alentene and check out the blobs and smacktalk before joining.
ps the OPs navy caracal loss is comedy gold. |
