Yup, I noticed a distict lack of "uncanny valley" effect on that face. It was very real.

But I also caught the "soft rollout" mention -- we might get those soonish.
And I hope the "just say no to new features" shirt meant something.

Notice the "Say no to Features" shirt?
Hope that means less new stuff and more improving of the old stuff, other than the two big new things they're working on. -------- All I want is a better mankind.

APEX is indeed rather nice, but nVidia has the annoying tendency to lock ATI users out of content using their software or sabotage their performance, so in other words, CCP would do better NOT to use something like that.

You show me something that can run on ATI cards? Oh you can't...so the rest us of has to suffer because AMD is all talk (since 2006) about GPU physics?! ____________________________________________________________________________________________________ Fact of EVE forums: They will always come an anounomys alt-toon and question someones character... |

OpenCL is an open platform that works fine on nVidia and ATI and has no issues with full physics simulation, but I unfortunately can't help it that ATI isn't as aggressive in bribing developers to use their software (yes, nVidia usually pays devs to use it, not the other way around).

Oh, you mean like Bullet? the fastest growing physics library which is accelerated on ps3, nvidia and amd while receiving code and funds from AMD to support a completely non-commercial product (zlib licensed) and covered by multiple authoring tools on both the movie and game side of things?... oh yeah.
The only reason CCP are using PhysX for this is because they are locked in with marketing agreements etc, raping the player and themselves to some useless and in most places performance degrading crap? (remember how fast it was when still owned by NovodeX?, remember that the cpu code-path was faster in most areas until they artificially nerfed it to push more cards around 2007?), remember how nvidia artificially crippled it on their own hardware because people were using amd cards in the same box? (strangely enough, I do too), remember how PhysX is completely proprietary and doesn't have any assured continual support? (oh look we all do).
Being a fanboy solves nothing, PhysX is often a bad solution to many problems and is forced onto developers. Supporting things like this from any party is quite bad and it doesnt earn you anything at the end of the day.

You show me 1 game I can buy that use GPU-bullet? Just 1. Oh you can't? Still more of the same empty talk.
Let me repeat: EMPTY TALK!
Fanboy.
EDIT: Oh, and next time show with facts, not FUD: http://physxinfo.com/news/1000/popular-physics-engines-comparison-physx-havok-and-ode/
EDIT2; And how can CCP uses products that don't excist? There is no CPU-havok product for sale. There is no GPU-bullet product for sale.

But the dev said the fidelity would be lower ingame, AFAIK this should be the way the future avatars would look. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________ Fact of EVE forums: They will always come an anounomys alt-toon and question someones character... |
