Mariel Gude	Posted - 2010.06.20 23:38:00 - [2] Kil2: only really professional commentator ever. brings a lot of useful and interesting theories and observations to the table the viewers don't necessarily see for them selves. teamed with Crovan in AT6/7 was perfect commentator duo. angelhun: decent. 7/10 Darius Johnson: funny, but unspectacular. Brianna Tempest: not as bad as everyone makes her out to be, but struggled a bit with her English, and really felt like just a "random eve player off the streets", not an "expert". Verone: getting old. was a lot better in AT6. a bit dependent on good chemistry with co-commentator to really shine. all: it's obvious you all spend less time pvping now then you maybe did a few years ago. ofc, real life and/or managing a corp/alliance takes away from it, so maybe now isn't a good time to apply as AT expert? more "current" pvp pilots would like to go to Iceland too...

Zofran	Posted - 2010.06.21 02:06:00 - [6] Kil2 Not bad, not good, sounded a bit arrogant at times and also had way too much of a bias towards teams/ideas and unable to see things for what they were, while not necessarily a bad commentator if he could address that and chill out a bit, he'd most likely shape up. Angelhun A bit lost and generally out of place, average in ability to commentate and short on situational awareness... I cant really say "omg never again", but at the same time... what's the point if you're just average? we want insightful, aware people. Darius Johnson First weekend was pretty horrible, but second weekend was great he stopped interrupting the co-commentator and actually kept a very close eye on everything, being far more aware of what was going on than most - if you had asked me first weekend I'd have said never again... but now I'd be looking forward to seeing him back. Brianna While theres no doubt, girls sell... I'm pretty sure you could find one that was less annoying or prone to saying out of place/fluffy crap. Please don't return with this one. I hear some of the more euro-centric alliances have quite established female pvpers and maybe you should look to snipe one of those rather than a public entrant running on the "free trip to iceland". Verone Veteran Commentator, while not always aware of exactly what was going on he called it fair and called it well, a stand up guy and someone I always look forward to listening to, plays well off the weaker aspects of a co-commentator to make a team which is better than the sum of the parts.

Did a fine job given that English is not her first language. A little on-edge, but hard to blame her. Had as many spot-on comments as anyone else. Verone Too often would use self-deprecating humor by his co-commentator as an opportunity to insult that person. Doesn't bring much to the table. CCP Soundwave Anyone else tired of his shtick? 'Hmmm, I have nothing to say so I'll just blather randomly about Pandas or bears or something and that will make me seem witty or cleverly intentionally dim or whatever.' CCP Claw & his buddy I guess the chemistry between these two was genuine enough that they were the least annoying of the bunch.

Verone: At times he was decent but at others he made 'wtf did he really say that?!' moments. 2nd best maybe DJ: Entertaining but not the best at providing deep tactical analysis of fights, also too many moments of 'Errr something just died but i didn't see what it was' ;) Putting him beside someone like Kil2 and he does well as a 'colour' guy. Brianna: Gets a lot of hate on here but i didn't mind her so much. Probably shouldn't be a commentator right now as there are better peeps out there who could do it. Angel Hun: Sorry but he didn't really add anything to the tourney. I found him to be a bit humourless and a little too cheerleady of his spaceship bros that i got a little irritated by towards the end. Minus points for the tattoo, plus points for puking on claws couch. In saying that props to them all for steping up and doing it.

Everybody else was saying really obvious/stupid stuff ("An ishkur is taking damage... it died..."). I understand some folks out there could be getting audio only, but that doesn't mean you should give both parties the bare minimum. Brianna speaks English perfectly, and it's not her fault she was picked. I could say she shouldn't have been picked but honestly she was only doing as bad as the rest of them: only telling us what stuff was taking damage or explaining the difference between shield tanking and armor tanking -repeatedly-. Some of the problem was Soundwave, who is not a sports caster. Needing filler is understandable because you can't sit there and look at each other for 3 minutes between fights, but you also don't ask yes or no questions or do another "Explain for the newbs out there..." He could have asked the commentators for example "What should that team have done differently?" "Why don't we see more of that on tranquility?" "Why would ATeam choose setup X knowing they will fight BTeam?" "What advice do you have for them before the qualifiers next weekend?" You are welcome to use any of these Soundwave

Sometimes funny, sometimes not quite, but his studio commentary was nice. Not the best for calling the action, however. Brianna: A nice attitude that contrasts well with the rest of the commentators, but seemed to struggle with a lot of game knowledge, bordering on cringe-worthy at times. I'm not sure if it was her knowledge, or just the pressure of trying to express it clearly on the spot, which I can see would take practice and doesn't come naturally to everyone. Relaying of concepts was often clumsy. Verone: He seemed to be the closest to a somewhat excited soccer-type commentator, also competent enough, but he has a few stock phrases he needs to break out of. "Straight away, an absolute swarm of drones!" The "straight away" and "absolute/absolutely" were ever present. Overall I was happy with everything, and look forward to bigger and better things in the future. I appreciated the CCP information that was relayed in the features and CCP guest employees. 2nd best thing to Eve-fest videos in that regard. Advertisements were fun too.

Kil2 got into it and was entertaining to listen to, Darius and Angel improved over the course off the tournament (tbh, most of the commentary was terrible the first weekend, but thats kind of semi-expected). Verone was Verone, and was sometimes entertaining and sometimes cringe worthy. Helped when he wasn't saddled with Brianna.

Posted - 2010.06.21 07:36:00 - [15] Darius - initially for me i didnt like him but he grew on me and became quite funny Verone - Great from the start but seemed to get more relaxed as time when on, great comedy value when paired with Darius Briana - tbh i enjoyed her commentary wouldnt call her a expert (but then again ive been playing since 2004 and im no expert lol, but great to watch (although she looked very nervous). Kil2 - great guy good to listen and watch Angel hun the same as Kil2 But Darius and Verone were more watchable becuase of the added humour, If ive missed anyone im sorry (wont incl Claw and Stavros as well they filled in on one match and were in no way as good as they have been. - loved the set this year Soundwave grrrrreat work, and still awesome to see StevieSG - you rock girl (my wife still frowns when she sees you since fanfest 2008 lol) Oh and great to see Navigator on set this year about time this hunk of a man was invited on Very Happy

Darius - I absolutely hated his commentary at first, but he really began to grow on me. I like Darius' commentary a lot now, he's quite likeable and funny. Brianna - Not a fan. Would prefer someone with more knowledge.

You could have a ** (Mentally inadequate) commentating, sure it's not his fault he's **ed (Mentally inadequate) and can't perform as well as the other commentators because of it, he's still ing **ed (Mentally inadequate) though. With that being said I think the hate for Brianna is a bit exaggerated, she wasn't THAT bad in comparison to the others. p.s Kil2 + Darius Johnson = best team ever. Who cares if Kil2 is biased or "arrogant" (Because letting us know that stupid mistakes are stupid must make him an *****), he was still the best expert of all the experts there. Darius is my favorite though, please come back next year.

Darius JOHNSON was kind of sad the first weekend, better the second weekend, and by TV weekend clearly had gotten so comfortable he almost talked to much, lol. But seriously, DJ in the studio talking about behind the scenes GS stuff and spouting philosophy on the game was imo a really cool addition. "We practiced about 21 hours a day"...gold. Verone is a staple, I don't mind listening to him. He obviously has a super extensive background with the game and once in a while pulls out cool facts thanks to that. Brianna.../sigh. I had high hopes and did not hold any bias against you going into the final weekend because radio weekends can anyone sound clueless, but like most have said, not sure if your overall knowledge of small gang pvp was adequate.

But he is great fun to watch in the studio where he drifts off "Whose in the next match again?" Kil2 and Verone make a good team for the Live action stuffs. And Brianna needs to just relax a bit and think before making some of the comments. Last weekend tbh, I had no problems with her. Well done to all, and thanks for making it another fantastic Tourney

Everybody who has ever hired people has to sift through applicants after clerical jobs when they can't read or physically demanding jobs when they can't lift over 10 lbs. It's pretty much a given that you are going to get people who aren't qualified, but CCP is supposed to be able to pick people that don't suck.

Darius Johnson Funny :) Almost useless at the start, he got more and more interesting as time passed. Not very "useful" in the end, but quite entertaining. Brianna Trying her best. But that's not enough... Yet. Some out of place comments that weren't even funny. Verone Nice job. Not as good as Kil2 when it comes to analysis of a match in my opinion, but very valuable comments.

Verone - Very good most of the time, occasionnally went off on one at the wrong moment but otherwise also excellent. Angelhun - Fine, very competent. Darius - I had my doubts at first but his style grew on me, he made me laugh out loud on several occasions, which rarely happens. Worked very well with Verone playing it straight, good double act. Brianna - Was OK as a behind the desk expert for the newbies if you see what I mean but had no place in the commentry box. Nothing personal and I'm sure I'd be far, far worse but there you go ... Special credit to Verone and Darius (if it was them) in handling the horror of the extended 1 v 1 non-fight. Would have been very easy to crash and burn in a situation like that. All in all good job guys! Obviously details were missed but there was often a lot going on at times and that was always going to happen ...

His commentary wasn't particularly amazing but he made up for it with laughs and some genuinely interesting studio chats. Verone was as competent as ever although looked depressed in that studio... then again having to wear that beanie might have that effect. Kil2 & Hun were competent, can't say much more than that. Brianna was obviously selected for the a-girl-on-the-internets factor, unfortunately it backfired a bit for her and CCP. The amount of nerd-rage created was overly mean and a bit childish... I doubt she would ever want to commentate on anything ever again. Soundwave held it together really well although he tows the party line a bit too much imo. In fact the tournaments are heading too much towards SRSBUSINESS imo, compared to earlier tournaments where everyone would get drunk on the last day with much hilarity ensuing and epic diatribes against CCP devs

It just shows the lack of professional approach by repeating continuously how they hate that ship X and how eve is better place when ship X is blown up. It might be easy to fill the empty spaces with silly banter, but in general... that's really lame behaviour and only emphasizes the lack of knowledge and ability to think out of box. "I don't like it so I don't like it... please blow it up quickly" < that's silly. Some commentators did splendid job giving and general overview whats going on and tried to quess tactics... but few of them...

You have virtual spaceships shooting at each other on the screen and sometimes you can barely seen anything. So for me the greatest commentator value is style, entertaining value, and humor. Some funny British accents with some weird British humor is pretty good for this.

Darius Johnson Got much better in final week. Good entertainment value Angelhun Average. Less mistakes on final week. Not really engaging but he handles himself okay for studio thingy Brianna Bad in first week. Improved in final week. A bit nervous on TV. Good novelty factor ( girl ) & maybe hard for other girls to pull off as pvp commentator Verone Decent in first week. Became quite atrocious in final week. "tengu > legion in tourney because tengus are better for missions" angel head, besides being unfunny looked like he was having an allergic reaction to a bee-sting and was swelling/sweating on the camera. and i dont know who it was that kept asking all the completely ****ed questions like "explain missiles to us" "explain tracking disruptors kil2" etc etc, do we really need these **ed explanations of the basics during the tourney matches? instead of talking for the sake of talking, and talking about really stupid , focus on explaining the stuff thats happening that we cant necessarily see over the camera. you dont realy need to tell us that an ishkur is at half shields or w/e, we can see that. Talk more about positioning, any ewar if you see it, stuff that isnt conveyed clearly all the time with the camera angles. if it looks like an entire team is jammed out or someones being neuted and you can see his hardeners have been shut off or w/e, dont explain the basics ffs, surely the majority of people interested in watching pvp matches knows how this ** works.

He definitely seems to shine at times (IMO).

Darius - I really enjoyed his one liners and jokes, I am a heavy PvPer on TQ so I knew must of what was happening/going on so maybe I enjoyed him more than others. Really makes the slow + boring matches more interesting. Angel - pretty good, wouldn't say he is as good as Kil2, but certainly knew what was going on and gave decent commentary. Verone - decent commentator, he was wrong on almost all the guns he called by looking at the ships, but hes a solid commentator and usually always has something interesting to say so no dead air. Brianna - Weak link this time around, I figure she knows what is happening, she is just very nervous and needs to work on her confidence a lot more. too many "err... ummm.... uhhh...." when explaining things. ---

Half a match went by and he had talked the entire time about some silly insight without giving any attention to what was happening on the spaceship game. If I watched these videos ONLY to listen to him, I would have enjoyed them a lot.

Angelhun Sounded very monotonous and he seemed to have learned everything from reading about EVE and not actually playing it for experience. Not bad, just dull. Darius Personally loved his comedy style, lot of people I know complained about his puns, it seemed rather obvious to me that he was using them satirically which I liked. Didn't bring much to the field with his actual battle analysis though. Verone Got a tad repetitive near the end, but still informative without too much bias. Worked very well with Darius. P.S. I like your face.

Kil2 - Can easily switch between being a good commentator and downright annoying. Easily got better as the tournament went on. Darius Johnson - In all the matches i've watched, he leeches too much off what other commentators have been saying. Still not the worst. Brianna Tempest - Dear god; Not only does she detract too much from the match (Most importantly, Squid, Fish and Tentacles? What? Verone being more apt with game mechanics and so forth, Darius more to fool around. But it adds up very well, especially some of the day 5 matches were quite entertaining just for the comment. Absolutely. Kil2 - too serious spaceship business, damn broad american english, guessing back and forth trying to stay all aloof. stay away please. The other guy - annoying voice Biranna - facepalm
Altaica Amur The Elliance	Posted - 2010.06.28 22:00:00 - [47] Kil2 had the best commentary, seemed aware of the match instead of rambling on about some topic they got stuck on, got better with co-opertive commentators that would spice stuff up but let him keep the commentary on track Verone & Angelhun were good, not quite as sharp as Kil2 on what was going on but probably more pleasant overall Darius had too many random comments and not enough awareness of the match to know when it was a dead enough point to get away with such Brianna just didn't understand the game well enough, some time in ETF would inform a lot of her commentary better never mind further experience through PvP
