and here was me hoping to just set up a reactor and mining laser and storage unit on my own with considerable investment on my part (given me only being able to fly frigate sized vessels) and selling to others as an outside contractor.
P.S. - do the outposts show up in the system list, or do you have to find them by exploration?

Player Owned Stations don't show up on the navigation window. You have to scout around for them or use the scanner. But unless you own the station, have rights to use it, or planning on attacking it, you probably don't want to go looking for one. Its defenses are very high end. A neutral party can't use anything it offers.
