Hey!
Sorry if this is a noobish question or has been asked before, but I was wondering, how come Storage Facility Expedited Transfer times are so different? The thing is, I have 2 Ice Planets colonized, on each one is a storage facility that is linked to the CC. From one of the storage facilities I can transfer once every 30 minutes, from the other only very 2h. Why is that? Does it have something to do with the rout length between CC and the storage?
Thanks. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

size of transferred items has effect, for certain. not sure about level/length of links. ________________________________ : Forum Bore 'Em : Foamy The Squirrel - [jedi handwave] "There is no spoon." |

if yo trasfer 500m3 yo get a cooldown of 2hours if yo trsfer 250m3 yo get one of 1 hour.

Both items are the same size (basic, non-processed materials) and Iv been transferring 500m3 on both consistently. The only difference that I can see is in the links between the CC and storage. Could it be the links length and m3/h capacity? Thus, upgrading the ling to be able to handle more m3/h would result in shorter delay. Possible? --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Interesting possibility. Will look into it.

I will too, as that seems to be a likely possibility. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Edited by: Ravenstain on 22/06/2010 13:44:38 Investigation results:
The delay between transfers is indeed directly connected with the "bandwidth" of the link. I updated the link between CC and the Storage Facility to 8000m3/h and got the transfer cooldown down to 5 minutes. Basically every update of the link cuts the cooldown in half, starting from 2h with the basic link and down to 5m with a lvl5 upgraded link. Not sure if it can be lowered further, as I think that the 5m is the most the storage facility allows. Might be a wast upgrading that far, but as I didn't have enough PG left to do anything else to do with it, might just use it there.

Cant test right now, but could it be as simple as calculating how much time it would take to move x m3 through a link of y m3/h capacity?
i.e. suppose you want to move 1000 m3 thorugh a 8000 m3/h link + 1/8 h (7.5 min) for transfer?

Yes, I think thats is exactly the case. I tested it and got exactly those results :P --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So it calculates how long it would take to transfer stuff, reserves volume on the link for that time so that it can be transfered piece by piece and
THEN BEAMS IT TO THE DESTINATION INSTANTLY?
I'm aroused by this mechanic

Edited by: Ravenstain on 22/06/2010 18:41:08 I too love the time warping Only shame that it doesn't multiply the materials transported. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
