Edited by: TheCrazyT on 22/06/2010 17:35:10 Maybe someone tried to sell at that price but accidently buyed it. Other reason could be that he tried to buy such an amount of that item(but why should somebody do that) and accidently typed the amount into the price. Another reason could be that he is a trader and mixed up the row of his order-table Well .... or the eve-gods just like you - you lucky bastard

someone without an understanding of how the market works probably tried to launder isk through an obscenely high sell order. They may not have known that the lowest price sell order would be filled regardless of which one was clicked on and you got the benefit as the lowest sell order.

Edited by: Qoi on 22/06/2010 17:57:09 Well, people try to scam other people with sell orders that are too high by some orders of magnitude. If you click on such an order (because you sorted your price column in the wrong order) and buy from it, the money will get removed from your wallet, the eve client will issue a buy order with that money and then the eve market will fill it with the cheapest sell order available.

Edited by: Marshiro on 23/06/2010 00:09:59 I still wonder how many times have billions instead of millions isk orders worked, in either markets or contracts. If it did happen, I'd love someone to share it.
The thousands to millions is just meh. I think I was studying the charts and it happens to rifters 1-2times month in one of the regions I was looking at.

in the contracts, if you look at something like a megathron navy issue, you will see the 400,000k contracts. note the name, then look them up and see the 'finished' contracts they have done. i looked at one, and it looked like he hit once every few weeks. so some free isk... maybe a few hundred mill a month. i gave it a shot w/ 2 contracts just to see if it would work, and they sat for 14 days w/o being filled. I noticed that there is still a 0.01isk war going on w/ those types of contracts, so they are not maintenance free.
in the end, even though the return % is better than regular trading, the results are too sporadic to justify monitoring and babysitting those contracts.

I have lost a few hundred million before by making a buy order after switching products in the market viewer without giving it enough time to update. buying 30 ward consoles at 15m each isn;t fun :/ but i guess i made someones day.

I dunno about you, but I'm a nice guy and gave it back when someone bought something from me for a few hundred million isk more than they should have. I know eve is a harsh place, but it doesn't always have to be.
