This is actually interesting enough to write a degree about. People on the forums read the first paragraph, maybe half way through the second before they can't take it anymore, and hit the reply button degrading themselves down to the apparent level of the apparent troll, giving the OP good laughs as while they degraded to trolls themselves, they were infact, not trolled. Reading all the paragraphs, often avoids rage-confusion.

Extended downtime for major hardware and/or server/client software upgrades is not unusual or something that should be compensated. The cost of playing the game should include the periodic (and hopefully very infrequent) extended downtimes.
On the other hand, because they so mislead their customers on what this move entailed and the chance that the server would be down for days, they should do something for people who were caught with short skills in their queues (not me). They probably don't want to deal with the deluge of petitions, so it might be best to just give everyone 1-2 days of bonus training time and not have to deal with it.

Other MMOs do extend your time if their maintenance goes overtime. I don't see why CCP can't do that as well.
There are so many old bugs and issues still in EVE that don't get fixed while they introduce new stuff, compared to Blizzard they very unprofessional.
