Myself, and the rest of the community are beginning to question how this server move helps, and what is taking so long.
1. How does this server move help?
I look at how it was explained that the servers simply were moved from a room, to a bigger room with better A/C. Does this improve performance alot, or a little? Is there new hardware besides the A/C that helps "improve" performance in this new room?
2. What is the problem, and what are you doing?
I ask this as one question. We all know your offical reply. However, like the BP disaster in the gulf, it is perhaps better to keep the public in the loop. Explain that the "small" problem is really "small."
"Enlighten" us on the procedures that you guys are undertaking. Explain the problem in detail, perhaps the many IT degrees that are apparently visiting the forums can actually help lol.
Like the BP disaster, it only takes an underexaggeration of a huge problem to make it collosal.
"Its only a few thousand barrels a day." "We'll have it fixed in no time." "This solution will work for sure!"
Don't leave us in the dark, it'll just bite you in the ass.

it consolodates all the currently scattered servers into a single room, making the connections between them shorter and requiring less routing devices.
Sorta like how planet mining works. Long links are bad.

Edited by: Forum Mcforum on 23/06/2010 22:38:40 Usually i wouldnt respond to stuff like this
but i simply have to,
Your a child! If you posting on here because you simply have to play eve, and wont rest until you get your 15 dollars worth....you need something else to worry about
Also if you think the server not being online is a colossal problem, you want to go to the doctors mate!

This upgrade is one of the biggest to EVE's infrastructure they've seen in a while.
It's cool stuff if you're a techie :)
I just hope for CCP's sake, it was worth the investment for them. All looks good on paper, but many times when in practice, things don't work out as planned.

Thank you for the helpful replies. However, it does not explain the current problem.
I'll illustrate:
Originally by: CCP Fallout Hello all,
We have successfully moved our Tranquility servers to their new location, and Tranquility is scheduled to return to service at 23:00 UTC. Our original plan was to have the Web sites and Tranquility returned to service at 15:00 UTC, however, during the move we discovered network and SAN switch issues, which resulted in an extended service return delay. We have resolved those issues, and are working on returning Tranquility to service as quickly as possible.
Then what is the current problem?
I have had a habit of being a skeptic.

Anza part of the IT Alliance is looking to fill our ranks.
We are looking for All types of pilots from Rock Hounds, Mission Runners to PVP specialists. We have 3 divisions Hi Sec, Low Sec & 0.0.
Rockhounds û minimum requirement - must be able to fly a hulk you wonÆt be mining in Hi sec.
Hi Sec - Minimal Skill points required, Corp run ops and PVP roams and classes and its a great way for new players to learn the ropes and get out to 0.0 through this avenue.
Low Sec û Yes we have killers the -10 type so if this is your game weÆre also for you.
- 0.0 Fleet ops major battles & PVP roams û to join our 0.0 division youÆll need a greater commitment and be active most days. Here ops are mandatory not voluntary and your involvement is required. Yes you can still Rat and run cosmic anomalies but that is secondary to our main function in 0.0. YouÆll also need a PVP kill board record thats acceptable.
All prospecting new members will go through a 30 day trial and you will need to supply API, have working mic, be able to get on team speak, be able to connect to iirc. These are all have to no exceptions are made.
If this is you send me an email and iÆll convo you and discuss Anza and you.
Regards, Dapto
