If you are an active miner shut down all mining activities till it is over plain and simple. Hulkageddon can't happen if there is no Hulks to shot at. If you are a well armed mining corp don't take a Hulk out of station without a BS or BC or two in tow. The wimpy pirates that like to attack something that can't shoot back will have to finally venture to where someone can actually fight back.

No value? Then why do so many mine. Also what would happen to Manufacturing if no one mined. Industry would just grind to a halt. You forget a miner mined the mins that built your ship.

No one mines the minerals for most of my ships. I build most of them (I have BPOs for everything BC and smaller) from reprocessing drone poop and drops from missions tyvm....

You are forgetting that macro miners make up 160% of the miners.

You know there were several threads exactly like this one prior to Hulkageddon II, and we still killed 1200 of them. And just so were clear:
1) I can still kill you even if you have bigger ships as escorts. 2) I can still kill you even if CONCORD is in the belt. 3) I can still kill you even if youre parked afk outside a station.

Wow people REALLY get all worked up over this event...
I have a hard time understanding why everyone feels the need to create a new thread about why hulkageddon is bad, or why it shouldnt happen, blah blah blah...
The best part is when people cry to CCP about it. Take a look at this,

and then think again if they are going to help stop it, let alone care about the carebears getting popped by the gank squads. |

A lot of Hulkageddon participants come from low/null sec mining operations, so the high-sec miners aren't going to impact that much. |

Edited by: Herzog Wolfhammer on 25/06/2010 07:13:27 The only thing that is going to stop Hulkageddon now, is if there is another staged attack and the pres throws the killswitch on the internet.
And then the only people playing will be Russian and Ukrainian macros, and the 3 or 4 Brits and NZ'ers in local trading jokes about the Irish.
Seriously, why can't people adapt? Anyone ever see Forrest Gump? Remember what happened to him when all the shrimp boats got messed up in the storm and only his survived? Why can't the miners just go deep into WH space for the week? Those hidden WH belts have light sleeper spawns, and lots of good stuff. Live a little.
And maybe, banking on the fact that macroers don't read the forums, gear up some dessies and join in on the fun.
It's bad enough people are like this in the real world.

You are assuming miners do what they do for a reason other than HATING COMBAT. I for one would NEVER, EVER participate in any activity which promotes 3-year-olds as "l33t pvpers 11!1!". |

It seems that alot of my fellow miners never learn, Either theypanic or they end up moaning and whining on the forums
Yes hulkagedon is a pain in the***, but there are several things you can do to survive the week without a scratch
You can of course stop mining for a week and hide till it is over or even shut down your computer and do something else , there is football, wimbeldon and soon the tour de france on tv another option is of course move to 0.0 sec for some good mining, in my experience aslong you follow some rules and don't do anything stupid mining can be safer in 0.0 sec than in high sec
if the above isn't a option, follow these simple rules 1 Find yourself a small out of the way system with only a few belts and people, learn who the local residents are, keep a eye out on local all the time, if you see strangers that can be a potential threat 2 Always move as far away from the warp in point of the belt you are going to mine, this will give you plenty of time to recognize a incomming threat and get out, advice always align to the station you use or a safespot , saves you alot of time 3 Get rid of all those cargo rigs and cargo exansion modules , learn how to tank your hulk, the hulk was designed to tank rats in 0.0 sec and it has, when properly fitted, a reasonable tank, this will give you enough time to survive all but the most determined gank
Happy hunting /happy mining
