After reading a couple of posts about the new ship colour schemes, I was doing a trawl through all the EVE ships to see which ones look they would be worth flying now. You read the posts about how good certain ships are, you take a look at it and realise that no way would you want to cruise down the space lanes in something looking like that (insert name of naff ship, probably Gallente) even if it can kill 99% of all known ships. After all number one criteria for what ship you want to use is not how many guns it has, but does it have go faster stripes, chromed exhausts and furry dice :-)
But thats getting away from the point of the post. I was looking at the Primae and can't figure out why anyone from CCP thought it was a good idea. I remember checking it out a while ago when I was getting into PI and couldn't think of why I would use it then either. Also I can never ever remember seing one on any of my travels around EVE.
So trying to figure out the answer to two questions.
Has anyone ever figured out a use for it?
and
Why would anyone build and try to sell 50 of the things?
Wonders if it should be made the punch buggy ship of EVE. |

NOPE. Any industrial can do what it can do. Unless you have NO industrial ship skills, no use what so ever.
reprocessed it.

It was given as a gift by CCP IIRC for something. You may or may not be able to build them
They are 100% useless if you have any of the racial hauler skills trained to level 1
There isn't a need for a PI ship. The only thing I could think of is if the ship could act as its own customs office. But then, that would negate the need for a PoCo... SEE YOU IN 319 STATION!!! WOOO HOOOO!!!!! |

I was actually tempted to check the Mineral Payback to see if it would be worthwhile buying them up and trashing them.

I found a wonderful use for my Primae...
I named it "Primae Pinata" , I put 4 cargo expanders in the low slots, and I filled it with Slaves, Dancing Girls, Wine & spirits, Holoreels, and other such party favors. Then I flew it to Amamake and watched the fireworks.
Fun was had by all

The sad thing about this is, I actually like the colour scheme :-) wonder if CCP could be sweet talked into swapping it for the Noctis one.

There was a problem with the game one time where the servers were down for multiple days. If memory serves, CCP gave people free SP and a Primae as a way of saying sorry. Later on, the Primae was also offered as a free gift if you selected it.
I am pretty certain that it cannot be manufactured and it more of a "Hey, look at what I got" type of ship. Also, as previously stated, it has no skill requirements, so if you make a PI alt, you could ignore all Spaceship Command skills and just use one of these. |

But yea, as already been said, mostly just to look at.
Yeah after one of the earlier comments, I checked for a blueprint. There isn't one. Thanks for everyones input. It was really bugging me why such a useless ship was in the game.

You scam people into thinking it's a noctis
But honestly the only REAL use the primae has is for trial accounts to try PI because they can't fly proper industrial and the frigates and cruisers they CAN fly don't offer a whole lot of cargo space.
Other applicable uses are to load it full of booze, drugs, and hookers, and leave it in a POS bubble and use it as a RP party destination. The Drake is a Lie |

If Xercodo hasn't found strange use for it, nobody will. If I tried to make a type of coffee that made all of you happy, and you rated it, the group score for it would be about 60 out of 100. Break into 3 or 4 coffee clusters, and made coffee just for each cluster, the scores would go from 60 to 78. The difference between coffee at 60 and coffee at 78 is a difference between coffee that makes you wince or makes you happy. |

Seriously, does no one remember it as a free gift leading up to the Tyrannis expansion? It had a cargo hold for PI stuff and the model was reused for the Noctis which came out during Incursion. |

I have four of them. Don't do PI anymore, but when I did try PI out, I used a hauler like everyone else. |

The Apotheosis is a nice shuttle, just like the interbus shuttle
The Zephyr is actually great for wormholes, not many people know this but the zephyr has sleeper immunity like pods have NPC immunity, makes the zephyr perfect for providing site warp ins on top of the sentry guns in a sleeper site.
The Echelon has a funny codebreaker (funny if you refine it) but it's better as a shuttle again. Might be later used to make a real hacker/scanner ship kinda like the Primae lead to the Noctis The Drake is a Lie |

It is best used as a sort of bookmark. I have mine parked in a system I used occasionally to jump off into lowsec, and when I can't remember the name I just open Assets and search for Primae, set destination and go.
And yea, they were to advertise PI when it came out. I took one look at the capacity, then back at my Itty V, and launched it on its bookmark career. |

Zephyr is useful as a warp-in point, but only if you struggle to kill sleepers. "when a ship is blown up, the pilot usually winds up replacing it. This drives the economy, steadies inflation, and gives industrialists a reason to manufacture. In contrast, creating isk while never losing any items has the unfortunate reverse effect on the market, plus it isn't really any fun." Jala |
