File: 1.1Gb. 1680x1048 MKV (h264). This is essentially the 'Hardcover' edition; there will be a Youtube version with appropriately larger icons, etc. within a week or two. The video is longer than Clarion Call 2: Pantheon, hence the file size. Exact file size is 1,206,018,226, so if you got that, the DL worked.
Players: Safest choice is usually Media Classic.
DivX Player should be fine and on quick machines normal Windows Media Player should run the file too. If it doesn't, you might need the ubiquitous Combined Community Codec Pack.
Early viewers on VLC Player with dual-core cpus had artefacts during fast motion, busy scenes, transitions. VLC is popular and a good player but because it handles all the codecs internally, is very cpu-intensive. So if you have both VLC and Classic I'd recommend going with WMP Classic. Feedback welcome. Quads have so far run everything.
Dual Core -> Media Player Classic recommended
Quad -> All players
Ships used: Logistics; capitals.
Background: A while ago I noticed that a video battle report from the middle of last year, shot from the POV of my Guardian and which happened to get uploaded, had some 15,000 downloads on Eve files. Unlike the other videos this was the primary mirror for the file but even so, for a clip that was never released formally in any way, it seemed to suggest that people would be interested in a Guardian video.
So this began life as a Guardian video, even though it's ended up as more. Capital ship aficionados hopefully won't go home empty-handed.
The initial Guardian action focuses mostly on situations where Guardians are in small groups, 2 or maybe 4, rather than some of the logi-blobs we're known to bring. That's to bring out situations where the outcome hinges on the life of one or two Guardians.
Is this Clarion Call 3?: No, though I hope the content, editing and action are comparable to those videos.
Narration: This time narration duties fall to me, though Princess fans need not worry, she'll be in action on screen.
This video also features more Teamspeak recordings than previous ones. Sometimes this is deep-mixed to provide atmosphere. However, important exchanges that shape the story of the fight are subtitled for clarity on the tactics being used.
Music: Rather than the usual esoteric mix employed for the Clarion Call videos, this time the music is within-genre: Black Metal, no less. It's been a while since the crunching riffs of Damige's videos and the brief blast of Emperor on Clarion Call 1 proved quite popular.
Although one day I'll probably make a video that's nothing but Darkthrone, In The Woods... and maybe 25 minutes of Rundgang Um Die Transzendentale SSule Der SingularitSt, in this case I've chosen atmospheric and melodic numbers that are fairly accessible and time has been spent syncing verses and blast-beats to action and Teamspeak.
Remember to mute your own comms when watching though, or it'll get confusing :)

Truly awesome vid, but that's what I was expecting tbh.
I really do think that RnK-tactics in deploying Triage is pretty much the gold standard and no one else is or was up to that level... except maybe Foundation.

For the record VLC released a new version last night that had gpu acceleration for nvidia cards and although ati have been missed short-term if you also install the cccp (FFDShow) cpu use on ati cards will be lowered slightly. MPC-HC ( http://www.xvidvideo.ru/media-player-classic-home-cinema-x86-x64/ ) Has gpu acceleration for both ati & nvidia, so cpu shouldn't ever be an issue. Just remember to run as admin or settings won't save.

I've watched some of your videos before with out any problems. I have a quad core system and VLC player won't play it with out getting real choppy. I downloaded the Media Classic that was recommended and it would only play sound with no video.
Is there some sort of codex I need?

Also, where are the 7 x heavy neut Bhaalgorns in that fight against Gallente militia?
Best part is when that carrier coming out of triage gets the energy transfer, it's like being raised from the grave. Seriously, why still train for a Thanatos?

No we didn't forget that, it's just absolutly meaningless, we show only fights which are actually real fights, often against extreme odds. Who cares if we get blobbed by 20 motherships? Is that an achievement that those win? If so, well, then we forgot important stuff, sorry for that :D

I think it's fair to say we won that fight though; ends up 43-5 in our favour and we're outnumbered :P That takes into account all related and subsequent fights too and the point of that segment is to show the shorter cycle time in Dominion, so I can refer back to it later. There's then about half an hour of us killing six caps and support, of which I have about 15 min recorded - but the story of that fight is pretty much in the 60 seconds surrounding the musical chairs capacitor stuff.
Showing the 5 losses would also mean having you sit through us getting 43 kills including grinding through all the carriers, and in fairness I think the video underplays how good that battle summary looks. The story of the fight was a battle of which side could sync capacitor better between cycles so that's what the segment focuses on. By not having you sit through all the stuff we kill once that subplot is resolved, surely undersells us, if anything.
Good work on getting the Navy mega out, probably had a good tank.

Zoom seems like an underrated player; has the wide compatibility of VLC and a low cpu overhead. Though I do wonder if part of it is simply that Zoom has a nice installer, which carefully checks all codecs as it installs (rather than the onboard approach of VLC). On that note, if you happened to have time, I'd love to know if the sound issues for you on Classic have disappeared since installing Zoom or not, i.e. if it's Zoom that's awesome or just the comprehensive Zoom installer.

Zoom seems like an underrated player; has the wide compatibility of VLC and a low cpu overhead. Though I do wonder if part of it is simply that Zoom has a nice installer, which carefully checks all codecs as it installs (rather than the onboard approach of VLC). On that note, if you happened to have time, I'd love to know if the sound issues for you on Classic have disappeared since installing Zoom or not, i.e. if it's Zoom that's awesome or just the comprehensive Zoom installer.
You're right, my audio issues with Classic are now gone.

tbh, i wouldn't praise you tactics there to much - failing to tackle pretty much our whole gang that was left after deaggressing in Alsavoinon (including another faction mega that was full of faction loots from earlier fights), not to mention outnumbering us like 4:1 isn't the stuff that legends are made of ;) If you want to show us your superior tactics, you're always welcome to come to Vestouve, we won't shy away from that :)

We couldn't have lost carriers plural since we only had one :P Looking at that particular instance, we were dropped by 200 people on both sides of a gate (KB shows 97+70=167 and there were many not on a mail, etc.) and we had one carrier and about 20 guys, and only a couple faction. Killboard shows 5 for 8 though we lost five BS the other side too.
Seems like it was a decent roam and we killed two gangs enroute to that. And even then, we still fought and killed stuff, though we'd have got more if we had max tank rather than an anti-neut setup from the previous fight. Though that's the point of an ambush, I guess.
But I don't have any problem with numbers, blobbing or whatever - it's only fair that people bring what they have. If you use a triage carrier constantly for months at a time, obviously you'll lose some. You could even lose it in a winning cause. The point is in the extreme overall efficiency of a tactic and the results it delivers, rather than an exercise in immortality. I suppose you could sit in a huge officer-fit Pantheon Aeon gang on a reinforced node if that was your main thing

Notice we are 30 or so in fleet (many of these are scout alts) and that local is at 122, you had also kept approx 70 (could be wrong) on the other side to trap anyone deagressing and trying to jump, so really its a well done on a successful blobbing, we are not bitter as the "don't fly what you cant afford to lose" rule still applies here. Just don't moan when we don't include it in our video.

Mind you, since reading his reply to Kelsenn it's clear the guy above is actually clearly not in NC, hence the alt, and wants NC to get flamed for dropping a couple hundred guys on a small gang on a random occasion. (After all, it doesn't even relate to the video, with their being no Guardians or short-cycle-switch triaging involved on either side).
So I'll do the opposite and defend NC
Why shouldn't they use 170-200 guys or whatever, if they have them in fleet? It's very difficult to say to people "go back to HoN, we have enough". I don't recall that for the last NC carrier we killed the other week we first made a roll call to check we weren't going to do be outnumbering them. It's all part of Eve. If a lone BS jumps into us and 30 are sitting there, we'd all open fire. Sure, we wouldn't make a video about it - but we'd still shoot.
All groups engage south of their gang size (I hope). The test of their mettle is then first whether they will engage equal to their comfort size, and finally the measure is in how far north of their size they will fight. Fighting with the upperhand on one day is not incompatible with fighting with your back to the wall the next. It's the combination of both that counts and many of the classic groups in Eve have demonstrated this under pressure.

I had major skipping problems while trying to play this with VLC so I tried classic. When using classic the video wouldn't play at all so I downloaded zoom. Halfway through installing zoom and all of it's updates my antivirus picked up 3 trojans and now I have these 3rd party updates/codecs that I really don't trust.

Odd, must be something machine-specific. The download site given for Zoom is one of the biggest online (CNET) so it should be fine. But in the end I'd go with whatever your antivirus recommends: after all, peace of mind is more important than being able to watch mkvs.

Finally got things working after I decided I really want to watch this video. I thoroughly enjoyed the whole thing, and the myrmidon save made me smile. Great music,great fights,great commentary. I really like how you guys judge how well the fight is going and if another carrier needs to be brought in or another needs to enter triage etc.

Guardians arent supposed to agress, sometimes they do to ***** onto the mail, however if they die because of it they get shouted at for 10 mins on TS :P
This means they can jump if the other guardians dont lock them in time, theres a screenie somewhere of LM jumping morium out in 5% hull when his fellow guardians didnt rep him fast enough |

You have a number of options for this. Firstly, Fraps can record sound itself. E.g. version 3.2.2, under 'Movies', will have 'Record Win7 sound' in capture settings, along with an option to record external input (usually a mic) if you also need to capture your own voice in the comms. That would be necessary if you were an FC for example, to ensure your own TS comments are recorded.
Most voice comm software like Teamspeak will also have the option to record natively in the program. Finally, you can use a third party editor like Goldwave to record from as many inputs as needed.
The best solution will depend slightly on your soundcard/onboard setup but all of the above should be viable on most setups.
To distinguish comms chatter from narration I've run the comms chatter through a visual equaliser that's on screen in most of those sections.

You have a number of options for this. Firstly, Fraps can record sound itself. E.g. version 3.2.2, under 'Movies', will have 'Record Win7 sound' in capture settings, along with an option to record external input (usually a mic) if you also need to capture your own voice in the comms. That would be necessary if you were an FC for example, to ensure your own TS comments are recorded.

Maybe a topic you should cover is when to overheat to do it safely, because I'm struggling a bit with that.

Sir, you have quite possibly the best EVE videos I have ever seen. I've watched them all, oh I don't know, over 10 times each easy. I've learned so very, very much from them.
The Clarion Call series was/is what got me to create a carrier alt, which I'm seriously loving, and this makes me want to take out my guardian a lot more.
More videos are great, even though they take time. But... that's why they're great. They're not just a screencap and people screaming on TS over a kill, they're well thought out, beautifully edited, and the narration is superb. More please :)
Antarctica being in the soundtrack was just pure win. It fit the situation quite well :)
