Unless you've been living under a rock the last week you already knew... but:
Introducing: Hulkageddon 3
Back by popular demand, the week-long slaughter of mining vessels will once again take place between the following dates:
The 9th of July 2010 - 18th of july 2010
(1 week + 1 extra weekend, from 0:01 to 0:00 server time)

We are once again blessed with a truly monstrous collection of prizes and achievements:
corporation/alliance prizes:
1st place: 3 billion isk + 1x Revelation Dreadnaught + 2x Panther black ops
2nd place: 1.35 billion isk + 3x abaddon + 1x Republic Fleet Typhoon
3rd place: 250 million isk + T2 fit raven
4th place: 100 million isk + Cruor
Individual prizes:
1st place exhumer kills: 1 capital ship of choice, with skillbooks + 250M + 1 exclusive hulkageddon t-shirt
2nd place exhumer kills: 1x Faction BS of choice + 5x rare micro smartbombs
3rd place exhumer kills: 1x Dramiel + lots of dancers

The Apocalypse Legion will pay 1 Million isk to each competitor that succesfully destroys at least 1 exhumer.
In addition to this, we have a many more achievements on the prize page!
How to play:
ItÆs easy to participate, all you need to do is kill mining vessels (that is: Barges, Exhumers and Orcas) and post the killmail to the Hulkageddon killmail which will be linked at the top of the Hulkageddon page when the contest begins.
ThatÆs it. Well, mostly it. You kill as many as you can, in whatever way you can, and post the killmails.
Killboard and prizes
The aforementioned killboard will be revealed prior to the start of the event, and a small team of trusted associates will monitoring it to remove unrelated/forged entries. In case there is any doubt as to the validity of your achievement you may be requested to provide a Full API key to the organization via email to verify your killmails.
Unless specifically stated otherwise, all prizes listing ômost killsö in their objective refer to exhumers only.
ôI have no corp, but would like to play!ö
We came prepared for just such an emergency! Send an application to the corp: ôHulkageddon Orphanageö and we will invite you to join all the other players with the same predicament! This was a great success last year and many gangs were formed and went out to destroy their share of hulks.
Multi-corp Teams
We are introducing something new this year. In order to let smaller corps have a chance to compete against larger alliance participants, you may declare your corp to be part of a Multi Corp Team and have your efforts combined when determining who wins prizes! In order to register your team, you must send an email containing the list of corporations in your team to: [email protected]
The closing date for submitting your MCT declaration is downtime on the 8th of July.

This sounds fun :)
two questions though:
-Do kills in nullsec and/or lowsec count for this event? (I can't find any information about this on the website)
-How much dps should I be able to put out for ganking a mining vessel? (according to EFT, a Hulk has 7k hp)

-Yes they do
-depends on the sec status of the system really. I personally recommend getting some buddies (4 or 5), some beers and a whole lot of T1 fitted catalysts for maximum enjoyment.
