The gallente event group known as GFTL have the ability to allow combat (without Concord interupting)in 0.5 and above. (As such having a combat match with 4 of them) I was wandering with them present, "should" it be possible to organise a special event posted in the news board for a player combat competition in a 0.5 and above, as previous events, attempted to be organised in 0.0 have been unsucessful because of the obvious external threats from Player Pirates

I like the sound of that. I'm currently considering an 'arena' in 0.4 space. Create several bookmarks (within a few km of one another) in the middle of nowhere, pass one each to the contestants. This will hopefully avoid Rats and pirates showing up. Contestants gather at station in system then, on the go command, undock and warp to their bookmark. Combat commences. Any player leaving the area is out of the contest. I was considering using Noob ships cos they're free and it allows Noobs to join in. One or two players in bigger ships would act as referees/cover/equip salvage.

Wow, proof that great minds think alike
Thanks for the link. I'm fairly new at this and was'nt sure how possible/practical my idea was. So this is helpfull. My event would be in corps only, as a change from the usual mining parties.(we had a corps treasure hunt once, which was a hoot)

It is not possible to let players combat without CONCORD intervening the reason why you can attack the GFTL character is because those are ôEvent Accountsö and are flagged to be above the law we cannot flag normal accounts like this. -------------- Sabaoth Aurora Captain The Aurora Project

So the only way combat is going to arise in 0.5 and above space is with "event accounts". ok thanks. Lastly, is that a 2 way system, ie if they shoot me, they are said to be above the law and concord doesn't shoot them, but what if i fire first?

Also what are the chances of player organsised combat arenas in specfic areas of safe space, such as a deadspace arena, for specfic events such as these, where certain people are able to fight without intervention? or am i streching my imagination too far?

I think you're stretching the EVE system too far. For that to work, the deadspace location might have to be in a different SOL server. I'm just guessing though.
