Just a few questions for folks that use ECM on sleepers on a regular basis...
I have seen it bandied about that a scorpion is a good platform to use, what would be a typical setup for one? We have been clearing plexes in wh space for quite some time and I cant really see a scorp being able to tank a typical spawn.
I have noticed if there is a recon around the sleepers will tend to go for it, is it the same with a scorp? I am thinking maybe a scorp with remote logistic support but I cant see that being able to tank the spawns either if its targeted.
Thanks in anticipation

Buffer/remote armour tanked scorpion is what you're looking for, but then you have the issue of keeping your logistics alive. Sleepers hate ECM more than players do. With enough ECM there's very little that you need to tank. Don't aim for "permajamming" just aim to jam at all - getting 50% on four targets is more useful than 100% on 1 target. Also remember that the scorpion has a very long range, which you might be able to use to your advantage.
Hope this helps. [Aussie players: join ANZAC channel] |

Sleepers will attempt to extend range beyond the jammers range when jammed so be prepared for them to run away.
If your fleet can RR and keep the other ships alive the Scorpion should be fine. If you don't use RR then try an armor buffer on the Scorp. You'll have to warp out eventually but it will mitigate a lot of damage.

Sleepers will eat through an armor buffer without RR support ridiculously fast. So I wouldnt consider that to be a viable tactic.

I've used it several times. It works quite well if you can jam most of the sleepers, i.e. C3 and below anomolies. Try it in a C5 or C6 and you get what you deserve.

Given that a properly fit battleship of any type can usually solo a C3 anyway, bringing ECM would wind up being kind of redundant - better to bring more DPS. I assumed the OP was talking about wh that would require multiple players.

I run ECM Scorpion in Class V. Our crew use dedicated logistics support. Scorpion is viable for both armor and shield fleet. Their use is debatable in capital escalations. Not much use there ( Sleepless Defenders are harder to jam ) but Scorpions survive with extra logistics present. ( kinda makes it moot though if you have extra logis )
Generally we use Scorpion in small fleets where it makes all the difference. In larger fleets with overwhelming DPS on the field its not necessary
From my experience, this is what i consider pertinent
Target selection. Scorpion pilot should know which Sleeper BS does most damage and switch accordingly Access the wave & be aware when to jam Sleeper BS and when to jam RR during the course of the wave.
Relevant SP. Common sense but in this instance it really matters. Scorpion pilot should have good tanking and ECM skill level
I generally communicate with my logis and vice versa. There have been times I needed to GTFO ie a bad sequence in Core Stronghold final wave etc. ECM guy is also always targeted by logistics as he will take most of the damage in the encounter
Try to utilize the optimal range of the ECM jammer

Thanks for all the replies, I now have a much better idea of how and when to use a scorp now
