You guys are missing his question. There is something seriously wrong here, possibly some sort of bug.

Someone else probably got the pod kill. I doubt it was a single ship in a smartbomb camp.

It's perfectly possible to get smartbombed and not be podded when landing on a camp like this (and you Bane guys know fine well).
Happened to me last time I headed down to Stain... was prepping for the first 0.0 and not considering the low sec on the way to be a risk 
Single mega smartbomb camping the way down there

Don't know if you are all aware of this http://www.eve-log.com/log.html but while the killmails often seem buggy (Damage wise) this will allow you to pull out the actual data log from your drive.
It will show the damage, who etc etc that the killmail doesn't.
