Is it possible that my student accomodation has blocked online games such as Eve from operating? And, is there a away to check if this has happened or not?
Currently my client stops loading on the 'Got units' login stage, it freezes and then after a time drops back to the client login screen and reports that it has disconnected.
Help?

Are you using a dial-up modem? Internal? I used to get this same kind of thing when I used my computers internal modem. I hooked up an external and it works like a charm.
If not, it is probably not a blocked port because you are getting logged in and the client is starting to load. You wouldn't make it that far if the port or IP were blocked.
Outer space is no place for a person of breeding.

Its like broadband, I plug a network cable into the wall and I get internet. I can't see the other computers on the network.

An easy way to test if it's blocked is to go to
Start --> Run
and type in telnet 157.157.139.10 26000
If everything is working (and the server is up) you should get something which looks like some random characters and the word 'shiva'. (at least, that's what I get).
If it can't connect, and you know the server is up, then something is not right somewhere.
If it does work, try clearing your cache. I know the point after got units is when it tries to refer to some cache files, maybe something got corrupted?
Hope this helps

Yes, probably. I had the same problem for a while when I lived in Res on campus, logging in would take forever and a day but it would usually go through. Once I was in the game the lag was just fine.
Ask them to open port 26000. If they don't you'll probably have to run an HTTP tunnel or something to get through the firewall. To do that you'll need a program called SOCKScap and Http Tunnel NG (www.http-tunnel.com). HTTP tunnel requires a subscription of $5 a month or something to use, unless you can program your own =P
