I'm curious as to what others think of this idea, rather simple.
All vessels that are issued to all players (Zephyr, Apotheosis, Primae) will be followed sometime after release (3 months? 1 year?) by a blueprint original purchasable from the appropriate entities.
The large number of these ships means that being able to produce them isn't lowering the value by a large degree, simply allowing a greater degree of risk taking and permanently implementing a new and valued shiptype to the game.
The rarer vessels (Utu, Adrestria, Freki, Guardian Vexor, Impoc etc) maintain their rarity and value, whilst the ships that there are literally hundreds of thousands of become common (as they arguably already are).

Don't look a gift horse in the mouth. Why are you not happy that you are already receiving a ship of which the rarity can only go up? Your idea would nullify all that.

Totally happy with it. If you read the OP then you'll see I'm asking for the opinions of others rather than QQ'ing and demanding it be implemented -----

Was more simply interested in talking about it rather than deliberating upon it.
Also : One of your posts in M&C was just... godlike. -----

Ahh well in that case I am in agreement, I actually think its a good idea, at least for the Primae.
Well it depends on how usefull it is.... some of the special shuttles or really rare ships should be left as is, but if the Primae is supposed to be another industrial workhorse then it makes sense to seed BPs for it. Otherwise its never going to be used (appart from station spinning).
My suggestion was to have a BP version slightly different, thus preserving the uniquness of the gift one. And I saw somewhere else someone suggesting having a BP version with higher skill requirements - this would make the gift version very special (I really liked this idea).
As for my post in M&C.... I got a bit sick of people jumping in to flex their pirate-peen without reading the OP! (Glad you enjoyed it)

YES.
It is very nice idea, it will surely make more use of gift ship in ll eve.
And earlier proposed idea was awesome - lets ship made prom BP have same stats, but higher skill reqs.
Original will still have his value, but players will no longer fear of losing it. ------------------------------------------------

Well, I don't think that this fear should be instigated by single-drop rarity in terms of "Free stuff" for all capsuleers.
Look at what we've got : Sleeper Immune Frigate, Pretty Shuttle, Planetary Interaction vessel. None of those things are a "I'ma take it to lowsec!" type of affair as it is, certainly they all involve some degree of risk (WH space, 0.0 PI etc) and some inherent risk of gankage or loss, but the rarity wears off.
A year down the line we'll have another 25k players who have no idea what they are, won't be able to get one as everyone has either used it and lost it or mothballed it "Because it's rare!" (and there'll still be two hundred thousand of them..) and no-one gets to enjoy them.
Further to this, think of the poor modellers and coders. Some poor buggers put the Primae together to sit in people's hangars "Because it's rare."
Worth noting : Interbus Shuttle 100% should not have a BP, like all the other "Rares". Just in case anyone wondered. -----
