Citizens of EvE:
Let me introduce you to the wonderful world of MASSIVE DISTRIBUTED COMPUTING.
Berkley College ( California , USA ) has long been a researching giant in computing power and other fields, such as astrophysics. They invented and endorsed the BOINC program (Berkley Open Infrastructure for Network Computing). This basically allows volunteers to participate and donate "spare" computing cycles to the project, effectively making every computer participating seem like one giant computer. The numbers that are being crunched are massive, way too big for just one or two, even a whole room full of CRAY SUPERCOMPUTERS ... but with active participation the smaller computers like we use add up to something much larger.
The system was used in the "Human Genome Project", which in the late 1990s cracked the code to every GENE in the HUMAN architecture. Our entire genetic makeup.
I want to invite each and every individual that plays EvE to come and join in the SETI@home project.
Lead research Scientists take signals from the Arecebo Radio-Telescope in South America, and break them into smaller packets of information. When you are running this program, you will "number-crunch" these packets, and send the results back to the bigger project.
We are looking for intelligent signals from the many radio-frequency signals from different areas of the galaxy.
Imagine if YOU were the ONE to actually break the code. It might mean sharing the Nobel Peace Prize, Fame and Fortune, not to mention the fact that your computer was the ONE that did it... actually discovered ET's signal... hmmm
Here is where to get the software:
http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/
When in join "Team Star Riders" ... this is for EVE players only...
You can put our logo into your client via the web setup after installing the program. It can be found here:
http://zenithlabs.freewebhostingworld.net/starlogo.jpg
I look forward to seeing lots and lots of my EVE brothers and sisters join the project...
Send me a EvEmail when you do pls.. I will respond and thank you!
P.S. CCP if you want to endorse this .. GO FOR IT.
With Regards:

1) We all know about Seti, how couldn't we?
2) There already is an EVE group.
3) You're posting in the wrong section.
4) I had an apple and some sliced banana for breakfast today. ______________________________________________

I am participating in the search for an EVE Gate by joining the group "The Search For EVE" on SETI@Home. It's cool to donate your CPU idle time to science, and hey, maybe you gonna discover something big in a data packet.

Would you even know it was your computer the lucky one? I don't think so, all merit would go to whoever runs the project. Can you track the data that you have processed? Correct me if I'm wrong. Also wrong forum.

I did 10.000 work units back in 1999-2001 for SETI@Home.

Sorry guys I should have done some more research, however, since I have created the team I still invite all to join and contribute points.
Hell, I might even rally up a prize in ISK for the most points by the end of the year. What do you think of that? Say 100 Million ISK ?
I have also created a team logo, you can find it here:

I would hope that they would let the lucky individual know if he/she did actually decode THE packet.. Actually I don't know the answer to that question.
Perhaps you guys can help me find a moderator to move this board to the proper forum? Thanks in advance.

Then please help me to move the board instead of criticizing. Any help would be appreciated.
Also, demeaning names are uncalled for. I respect your right of free speech, but why the personal attack? I've done nothing to provoke you.

I joined Seti in 1999. My nVidia cards run Seti while my AMD ones run Collatz and Milkyway and guess which are the ones who're earning me millions of points?
I don't care whether I discover life, I'm helping science, that's all I care about.

You are wrong. If your packet finds something, you receive credit, SETI has been clear about this aspect of the project for years. Also know that every packet is sent to more than one machine as a redundancy and tampering device. TO CCP: The implicit promise of polished quality keeps me playing through the rough times. Yeah, I had some systems running the old SETI program but didn't make the transition to the new one. Don't remember how many units I processed. Me and my buddies had a group but last I checked we'd all quit.
*shrug*
Now - as to getting credit for discovering ET - yes you will. You may not know which unit you processed found ET - but they do. If one of your systems processes a unit that finds ET - they know you processed that unit - and will give you credit for it. If you dig around on the SETI site - the information is there somewhere ... Unless of course they've changed it.

If humans find aliens do they get a seat at the UN? And a permanent seat on the UN security council would be nice. Also an office, but not in the UN building. Was thinking of top three floors of a nice office block overlooking central park. With easy access to a helicopter pad for use by shuttles to transit alien delegates to space ships in orbit above earth. Also the office should have a high back leather chair with a white cat. And a swimming pool with rabid sharks in it. A conference table that flips over to a map of the world. Next to the office a jacuzzi with enough room for ten fembots and a chilled champagne cooler.
