imagine, going into an "Anchoring mode" via a right click on the control tower, that would give a free floating camera around the control tower similar to how the camera functions in solar system view.
when in "anchoring mode" put movement boxes on ALL unanchored modules that resize with the zoom distance of the camera for easy usability (like when moving scan probes)
perhaps give a checklist of all modules and allow checking/unchecking to work with certain modules at once (similar to scan probe interface)
perhaps even allow shift dragging of groups of selected modules (just like scan probes)
this would allow all the modules to be moved around at once and much more easily.
the ability to queue anchoring from this mode would rock, move everything to where you want it, set the anchor queue order in the checklist, then anchor all and the tower will run down the queue.
going back into anchoring mode could allow you to modify the queue.
this would strike a balance between requiring time to setup and arm a tower giving some opportunity for attack, and actually requiring some poor guy to sit there clunking around one module at a time every few minutes for hours on end...

Those of us that spend more time than we should adjusting our POS modules would also appreciate:
* being able to set module orientation (rotation)
* some sort of position indicator from the tower position (helps to get stuff at same distance and level)

CCP really need to upgrade POS, they almost haven't been modify/updated/improved till they have been introduced...

Gaaaa, 5 min time flux ate my post.
Short version -
POSs NEED updating.
I have so far avoided setting one up for myself mainly due to how annoying and complex they are to build.
'Flogging the dead horse' thread contains a genius idea for POSs, but has been around for years without CCP doing anything.
