As of today's patch, I no longer see spheres around probes when I am exploring. I just see their cubes and arrows.
This is making it exceptionally hard.
Anyone else back me up on this?

Sorry, cannot confirm. I see the spheres.
I did have trouble with the patch, it had to try twice to get a good download. Maybe somehow yours got bugged, yet still passed verification? You may need to download an entire new client.

I am having this problem as well. Cubes, arrows and the shadows for the spheres show up, but the spheres themselves don't. Makes it very difficult to adjust sphere size.

Reinstalled game as recommended. Issue persists as described by the player above.

Try turning shaders to low from high. I now get no effects like laser fire etc with shaders on high after this patch. You also need to ensure sun is not occluded by ships as this causes screen flicker and see through textures if it is enabled. (For me anyway on my imac).

I have my shaders set to high and experiencing this same probe graphics issue with all accounts - black disc shadow, white orbit rings and blocks with no probe sphere. I have played with all graphics setting and no luck. Also, my husband uses macs, has accounts on 2 other mac machines. All showing same probe graphics issue.
Hope it gets fixed soon, slowing my scan time down a lot.
Thankyou CCP for resolving the old flicker issue and customs offices are no longer shocking pink on warp in (didn't mind that one personally ;p) plsplspls can we get the probe graphics fixed or suggest a settings workaround that I may have missed? |

I don't see the spheres around probes either. Scanning is now very much more difficult. I'm disappointed to see no mention of this in the Tyrannis 1.0.3 patch notes.

Confirming that the probes are still broken post 1.0.3 patch
Great to see fast response on other post patch issues - hope that a CCP out there is following the Mac Issues threads and will get this corrected soon pls.
Would be nice if CCP could respond to this thread (when they have time) and show us that they are aware and acknowledge this issue needs addressing :)

I have the same issue on my iMac, but not on my MacBook pro... Also I've found out, when you set 'Shader Quality' to low, the sphere is visible again.

I have the same problem. Not working on my iMac, but works on my MacBook pro. I sent a petition to CCP, and they responded that I should delete my cache file (and lose all my settings). I assume that I don't have to do this if they can figure out what has happened. I'll keep struggling on the iMac until they figure it out.

Does anyone have a solution to this problem? I've downloaded the entire client again and started fresh with new preferences but to no avail. For someone who's profession in game is exploration this is unacceptable. I have the latest iMac i7 so this should not happen?

I noticed this issue, but not permanent. Which annoying as well and make the scanning difficult is the sticky Shift and Ctrl

Solution is to turn shaders to low and play with sun is occluded by ships option turned off. This will enable you to see the effects again until some kind of shader patch is delivered.

Edited by: scandy3730 on 15/07/2010 00:32:58 Same has happened to me, except in a much greater extent. I so no effects at all (drones propulsion, armour reps, rr reps, probe sphere...)
Even if shader is on low

Turning the shaders to low worked for me on an iMac with a Radeon 2600HD. I don't have the problem under bootcamp so I suspect it's an OpenGL thing.
