The primae is beautiful, I love the design and the attention for detail.
But why waste the design on a one time gift?
Make the ship usefull with larger bays, maybe some med-slots. Make a new skill to train for it (planetary industrial) Seed the blueprints
This way the ship will be used and we will see more them in space. |

Its a nice looking ship. However, what exactly is the point of it?
100m3 cargo bay ok, better than a shuttle I suppose room for 2 command centres in a dedicated bay..... oookay, badger II can carry that as well room for 1000m3 of planet goo ....... See above. 4 lowslots meh
Its like flying around with a big shoot me sign strapped to the hull.
Im either at a planet or a customs post. Come shoot me :)
Maybe i'm being a bit harsh, maybe its stealthy enough to survive and fulfill a role that is currently filled by cloaky haulers, but as you can't build any more of them, is it worth the risk to find out? |

Yeah it's a gift, and yeah it's very nice looking ship. Still, I don't understand why CCP is constantly giving us totally useless ships good only to collect dust in hangars. What's the point? I don't even remember where's my Apotheosis.
Imo these gifts should have some unique characteristics which would render them slightly better in certain areas than any other comparable ship in game. For example, Primae could have PI cargobay significantly larger than industrials. Or ability to fit cov ops cloak. Or... I don't know, *something* which would motivate people to actually use them.

If I read another thread about how a gift ship looks good, but is not good, I might choke a troll. Gift ships have always been shiny and come with that new ship smell, yet never have they served any game changing purpose.
It was a gift, take it and enjoy it.
I highly doubt that CCP don't have new shiny ships planned that we can use to kill each other in the future, and for years to come.

This thread is not about how bad the ship is. It is about why they put a lot of work in a one time gift instead of introducing a new cool ship to the game that will get used!
It doesn't have to be a free ship! I'dd rather have a new ship we can manufacture then a one time gift.
I like the gift, the artwork is very good, I just find it a pitty that it won't be used to its full potential. |

Yes - perhaps they can save the day and sell blueprints or make them drop?
It may sound ungrateful but I agree that all those 1-time ships gathering dust inside some forgotten hangar aren't my idea of nice presents either. The 100k SP bonus was actually a lot more useful.

description say something about beeing originaly designed to be a deep space salvage ship..
would be awesome to have it with salvage, tractor and analyzer bonus mabye make it a litle more gritty and dented as it probably have a lot of marks after crashing into spacegarbage no weapon slots only utility slots mid and low for analyzer and heavy tank

Complaining about this ship is a bit extreme. It's a freebie intended to get people to start using the planetary portion of EVE more. An integration tool that is served as a free gift. Newbies will appreciate it more than hardened veterans, but then again, they always do, because it's a useful way to start up faster.
Really, whining on the Primae is like complaining that the Snowball Launchers from winter times past couldn't be loaded with depleted uranium ammo. ------------------------------------ I like long walks, a good book before bed, and human entrails served cold with a side order of scrap metal. |

... which is very unlikely to happen in foreseeable future considering the time CCP needs to create new or redesign existing ships.

It looks great. Whoever did the art for it should do more ship designs. Also, it's free. These two things do not incline me toward complaint.
It's mildly useless, but then so are Christmas ornaments - and I have to pay for those again every year after the cat breaks them.

It was probably a redesign for another ship that didnt quite get accepted for that specific ship was cool enough to warrent its own.
Art departments create alot of content, content we as customers will never ever possibly even imagine to see. These assest are then cherry picked by the directors for further development and production.
In possible retro spec my 200 odd eve fan ships does pale in comparison to what a possible massive libary of ships the art department already has and not used at the second stage of development which is further interated details and definition the step above the thumbnail part. I hate to say it, but this is the same wierd carebearish junk that Bliz does in WoW. The little penguin pets and bear cub pets and so forth that are for looks.
I was very disappointed that this ship was so useless - even for cargo hauling. It's very pretty and well designed and actually looks like a sci-fi starship (specifically reminds me of the earth ships from Babylon 5).
I felt sort of bamboozled, but it is free, I guess, so whatever. I just think Eve needs a general redesign of ships with cool moving parts, etc. and I believe that's probably at the root of the OP's complaint. It's what we used to call "flavor." Perhaps issuing ships like this are some sort of a graphics/skin test to see what people think of the new designs before they roll them out? Otherwise, waste of time on their part imho. Use those skins redisgn the Minmatar or Gallente ships (or Caldari) instead of on this planetary stuff.

I've got to support the OP on this one - he's not really complaining, he's appreciating the time and effort involved in creating the ship and feels it should be a proper addition to EVE, as opposed to a one-off that people don't take out as intended because its irreplaceable. I agree.
It would be nice to have a version of this thing that actually competes with the bear minimum of indy vessels, at a suitable cost, on the market, as a canon ship.

I love the design, but for a nimble ship it's also very slow...comparable to an Iteron. Definitely not something I'd take into low-sec or 0.0 (lack of MWD for 0.0 for that matter). Nanos help, but not by much. I forgot to mention that you are in fact reading something that is called a signature. |

A unique gift stays a unique gift.
But, let's think of it as a prototype, CCP could tweak the model a bit (maybe add some larger cargobays), change the skin and make an *actual* ship of it with higher requirements and better attributes... it'd be nice, easy to do, and we'd have a ship with unique bonuses (not as good as a generic hauler, but outperforming blockade runners in planetary goo transport) :)
Do not try and find the signature... that's impossible. Instead only try to realize the truth... There is no signature. |
