Sorry for the double post. I posted this originally in Ships & Modules but no one seems able to help me.
I was doing a bit of ratting & up popped some Angel Raiders. I got to optimum gun range (c800m) started orbiting but I couldn't hit them. I had to get my drones to kill them. Here's my fit.

Is my fit to blame or am I just being unlucky? Any help would be much appreciated.

You're orbiting too close, making it impossible for your turrets to 'track' the target. Autocannon are designed to fight in fall-off (outside the inappropriately named 'optimal' range of the turret); if you look at their stats you'll see that autocannon have a huge fall-off compared to their optimal range. You can safely orbit at one half to once the fall-off range and still do good damage (certainly better damage than when you miss all the time )

Ahhh so "optimum range" for ACs isn't really optimum. Many thanks for your help & the lovely Jump Clones

Additionally, you could get some named ACs which should have better tracking and falloff.
The damage reduction when you're within optimum + 25% falloff is trivial, and that's the range I generally try to maintain for same-sized targets. Even at optimum + 75% falloff you're still doing pretty good damage, and your guns should be fine hitting 1 size smaller targets at that range.
