Hey there! I just started playing a few days ago, and I'm really loving the game so far, but I have a question. Is there any way to train skills faster? The one I'm currently training says it'll be done in just over 2 days, which seems like a large amount of time considering it's real hours.
I'd certainly appreciate any help! ^_^

The bad news: It may take a lot of time before you can actually train the skills you want to train faster.
Every skill has its training speed depending on a primary and a secondary attribute. Having higher attributes therefore makes skilltraining faster. There are learning skills that increase your attribute points and there are implants that add points to your attributes.
skill training explained
You can optimize your skill-training, but this may come at the expense of fun. Most people recommend that you switch between training learning-skills to training skills that allow you to try new stuff instead of blindly following the "optimal learning skill training plan". Things like this.

There are a few things you can do.
For one, implants. You need to train up the "Cybernetics" Skill under the "Science" skill section to plug them in though.
You can also train up "Learning Skills". Depending on how long you wish to play, you need only to train them up to about lvl 3 or 4. Go for level 5 if you know you are going to play longer.
Finally, look into getting an Attribute Remap. You can find the option in your Character Sheet under the "Attributes" tab. NOTE: Generally speaking... if you want to go into running missions or PvP, take away points from all other attributes and max out Perception and Intelligence. If you want to go into industry or science, do the same thing but max out Memory and Intelligence.
One thing I should mention... don't complain about stuff taking 2 days to train. That's SHORT compared to the upper tiered skills. Cruiser lvl 5, for example, takes about 20 to 25 days to finish. Battleship 5? That takes well in excess of a month or so.
This is why you will hear many veteran players say to SPECIALIZE rather that go "jack-of-all-trades." _______________________

Also be aware, that at a certain point in your eve career, you will have to train many 2-day skills,as well as 5-day, 10day, 20day, and maybe even a few month-long skills.
It's the nature of the beast of EVE's character progression. The longer you subscribe, the more you can do and do the stuff better. If you truly like the game, but don't want to start from square-one as far as skills go. You best bet is to buy GTCs from CCP, sell them to players, and then buy a character from the character bazaar. Note I only suggest that after you get an understanding of the game and are sure that you like it.

EVEMon. Download, install and USE IT.
Import your character information using the API key (EVEMon will have a link for that handy) and set up a list of skills you want to train.
Now for the speed-up part you wanted:
Click the 'Recommendations' link at the bottom of the skill plan and it'll throw in a few Learning skills that actually cut your total training time (including the learning skills).
As to skills taking a long time... 2 days is a pittance, really. Getting any of the T2 weapons or larger ship skills to 5 is... significant. (But WELL WORTH IT) _______________________________

1. For one, implants. 2. You can also train up "Learning Skills". 3. Finally, look into getting an Attribute Remap.
That's basically it. The max speed you can train is 2,770 SP/hour with "perfect" remapping, the appropriate learning skills to V and +5 implants; 66,480 SP/day. It doesn't get any faster than that (after your initial 1.6 million SP). In your training queue or EVEmon you can see how much SP a skill costs so that's an indication for the training time.
Ranks: when you start the game you mostly train rank 1 skills. Later on you get Rank 2, 3, 5 .. up to Rank 8 and 10 skills, meaning they take 2 .. 10 times as long to train. Some items and ships require a level V skill to be able to use it, especially t2 stuff.
You'll also lose your "double speed rookie bonus" when you reach 1.6 million skillpoints. So be prepared! Things in EVE are only getting slower and slower the further you progress.
So train as much learning skills are you can have patience for, you won't regret it in the long term. Some people say it may be easier to not play the 1st few months and only start playing after their basic learning and support skills are done. And play something else in the meantime. I can see their point.

Yes to learning skills don't train them more than 4/3 [for the learning skill itself it is worth getting that to 5] unless you really know what your doing also use implants

Assuming a new player, I'd go with a following progression: - Look for something that looks fun and is bite-size (such as a T2 frigate or a T1 cruiser/battlecruiser) - Look how it's actually flown, what fits are used etc. - Make a list of skill you need. - Put those skills on EveMon. Let EveMon optimize your skill training.
Congratulations. Now you have the fastest plan to get to Fun Stuff(tm). Once you're doing Fun Stuff(tm) and are happy with it, go ahead and train learning skills, starting with the memory and intelligence boosting skills to basic 4, then advanced 4 and finally basic 5, followed by training the other learning skills to basic 5 / advanced 4.
At this point, you've fiddled around with a slightly better ship, possibly have an idea on what you'd want to do in EVE, perhaps even some ISK to spare and might be prepared to plan your next step.
(Of course, with an alt you can start with sticking implants in and doing the learning skill grind for best results, but I don't see a reason to do that with your first character.)
