Yeah, it's funny how many people whine and whine and whine about how pirates aren't supposed to be as big a part of this game as they are. The whiners don't seem to know that the game's trailer is basically an advertisement for pirating. :)
That trailer did look a whole lot more badass before I had played the game to know which ships did what. Now I don't get quite as hyped about the badass pirate in his badass Ibis. :) ___________________________________________

I think the reason a lot of people whine about pirates is that pirating has become a profession of camping a gate with a few cruisers and podding anyone who comes by for a lot of people. If pirates roleplayed a little more and didn't just go on killing sprees all day long like some kind of Doom tournement they'd be accepted a little more readily.
Congrats to the few who are already doing this though, it's just a shame there aren't more of you.

Yeah right.
m0o is more about "how much can we screw everyone in this game over and get away with it". I'd note you only actually began calling yourselves pirates after CCP came in and kicked your behinds, before that I believe it was "serial killers in space" you called yourselves.
Your all about finding the most mean spirited things to do to people you can find. You kill everyone you can. You look for ways to scam players and corps (by your own admissions even).
Playing pirate is just an excuse that was spoon-fed you by the people on this board. Truth is, pirating has little, if anything to do with your activities. Your simply out to destroy.
Lying, cheating scum, that is the only accurate description of m0o.

That movie made it seem more like a reason to pirate, but not just because you can......

I think Ywev's point is that not only is piracy allowed in Eve...It's actively encouraged as a selling point by the developers.
Now m0o's methods may not be the actions that people envision when they see the word 'Pirate'. But that's a matter of semantics and opinions. Not everyone will be Errol Flynn in Space. Some people will be cold-blooded killers.

Wrong link. This isn't the clip with the battleships snuggled within jump-a-away distance from the stargate while profane pilots abuse local chat hoping to taunt the enemy to come TO them.
No matter how you *want* to portray yourselves, this clip may be how you *view it* but it isn't how you *do it*.
Have you hugged your system jumpgate today?

My reply to this thread is...
Its too damned easy to be a pirate. Negative corp and faction standings to podkills in that specific system would be nice. Block negative security rating players from those stations. Simple as that. If you want to be a pirate, you should get treated like a pirate.
Not all stations have to be that way, but it would be nice to see ones in Sovereignty owned space stations even below 0.4 systems be like this....those OTHER stations not in those areas could be considered roguish and have a totally different setup.
All I am saying is, EVE treats Player pirates too much in their favor. Stop pampering the pirates.
Also, for all those mega-corps that thinks its all fine and dandy to pay off the Pirates, sure, its your damned business, but your business becomes your customers business.
STOP BABY-FEEDING THE PIRATES.
P.S. -Pirates are a part of the game, but they should not have total control of situations. Ex-MoO

<< My reply to this thread is...

And my reply to that is...
How is the hardest choice of paths in Eve "too damn easy"?
All other choices of paths in Eve have almost a guarantee of making isk, from mining to npc hunting to manufacturing to trading. Being a pirate has no guarantees of making isk. And it carries more risk of death and destruction than the other paths, as the most difficult opponent to defeat is an obstacle: other players.
Most people that think being a pirate is 'so damn easy' wouldn't last a week before going broke and being podded back to KinderKare.

If you have ever looked at a response to the majority of most pirate blockades....THERE WAS NOT A RESPONSE. Just idle threats and cursings of their ill luck...and Pirates just smirk at this and keep podding away. It WOULD be nice if being a pirate was dangerous...but its not....all stations welcome player pirates with open arms...I don't think all stations should operate that way...

i say let moo keep camping mara. while they're busy podding newbs in a high security system, the real players are out making billions in low security systems.

Intersting quote coming from someone whos corp leaders did almost the exact same thing to me the other day, with the exception that they didnt even warn on local chat that they were there. Tank CEO and NumberOne just sat by the gate (amid a fleet of cargo containers to spruce up lag) and blew up and podded anyone who came near.. sounds a lot like what MOO does.

I think that Pirates should be affected by their security rating as in such a way if they are at say -0.9 they can only dock in a 0.9 system. Eventually if they continue being bad boys and girls they will be forced to only be able to dock in a 0.0 system. This would reflect what being a outlaw actualy means. And if they even went near a station in a to high security system then the station guns should lock on and blow them away for being outlaws. exp. Pirate has a -0.2 security rating and approaches a station in a 0.8 system then the station guns will open up on them.
If they want to play the part of outlaws CCP make them feel like outlaws and make them un-welcome in secure space.
Pirates are part of the game and you will get pkers in all pvp games like in UO. Its a part of online life. Kiran-" Damn where did that pirate go?" Martican (co-pilot)-" He went behind those two big pink asteroids." Kiran-"Will you stop taking the **** out of my fury dice?" |
