prior to the latest patch I was able to run Eve with the default video settings and see warp effects, shooting, etc. Since the patch, I have a seriously degraded video experience, no tunnel effects and I can't see my ship fire. The gradients from stars and lights are no longer smooth, but layered. To add to the problem, I cannot seem to restore my original video settings.
System: 2.66GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i5 4GB 1066MHz DDR3 SDRAM - 2x2GB 1TB Serial ATA Drive ATI Radeon HD 4850 512MB
Any help/advice is greatly appreciated!

Same problem here. Since patch 1.0.2 i can't see any effects ( shield booster, shield hardener, strip miner, tractor beam, salvager...), if i set shader option on high. If i set on low, i recover all effects.
iMac 27 with HD4850, C2D and 4Go.

Edited by: Elliminator on 02/07/2010 14:55:56 i have the same issues.
I have made a petition and the GM told me to delete / rename the cache folders (Did not work it created another problem with my mail it now gives an mail "Cache Error" The solution in the error does not work (press escape and clear cache in the appropriate menu. After that i uninstalled eve and reinstalled it by downloading it from the site, the issues still exist.
i also have an 24" Imac no issues there.
System specifications:
27" Imac (where the problem is)
Mac OS X 10.6.4 2,8 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i7 8GB 1066 MHz DDR3 SDRAM - 2x4GB 2TB Serial ATA Drive ATI Radeon HD 4850 512MB
24" Imac (with no problem)

thank god i'm not the only one...yup, same imac, same issues...no turret effects, etc, plus...weird weird glitch with transparencies, sometimes i can see through the ship, and even station (not talking when u get so close that actually you enter inside the model, no ) it looks like it freaks out when some objects are located behind my ship, starts an annoying strob, with the face of the ship model that is closer to me, appearing and disapearing. weird. i want my eve back!

same problems on an imac 27" i7... and realize that lowering shaders to low turn on fires and warp tunnel, but it glitches everything else...

Wow thanks for the feedback. Sorry to hear you're all having the same problems :(
I pulled the pref's out the trash and my mail started working again, great advice. I put the shaders on low and that worked for now. I tried that before and it didn't work, so I ended up installing the game/patches again. That didn't fix anything either. So shaders are on low, I have effects but space looks like crap, but it was bad anyway.
I whole-heartedly concur, I want my game back! I bought this comp to play this game on it and now it sucks!

Thanks for the workaround Phal :)
It would be nice to know that it has been noted and will be addressed though. Anyone?

Same here, veeeery annoying! And the windows scramble in weird positions sometimes. Plus the CPU use now is so, that you don't want to switch to the desktop, not to mention a browser! Duh!

i got my answer via my petition.
Unfortunately there is no other workaround than lowering your shaders.
The gm did tell me that they are working on this issue. Pod Or Be Podded.. |
