I was looking at these and the republic fleet uses 10 less cpu to fit. Damage increase is 0.025 over the gyro 2. In terms of dps and usefullness is this really helpful for the price? cost effective is what i am wondering.
I mean the gyro 2 is like 2m max? and the republic fleet is around 65-70m.
Besides the small min/max aspects that i know alot of people do, is there there really a big benefit for this?
I am asking as right now i use 2 gyro2 on my hurricane and i am doing alot of wormholes. I do plan to pvp with the cane soon but just getting some extra money so i can have 3-4 sitting around for when i lose it. Obviously im not use the republic gyros for pvp until im confident with it. But with wormhole and killing sleepers would it be worth it?

rule of a thumb, don't fit a module that is more expensive then your ship.
And no u wont gain any noticeable better dps if u fit it onto cane. this kind of stuff goes onto machariels, vargurs, dreads and such.

faction damage mods serve 2 purposes:
1 they give increased DPS over T2 equivalents 2 they use a substantially smaller amount of CPU to fit
They are used either on (empire) PVE ships where max DPS is everything or on expensive pvp ships by experienced pilots that know exactly why they are fitting them.
I am going to assume you are not of the type 2 people variety, so I'd advise you not to use it on ANY pvp ship or 0.0/lowsec PVE ship. __________________________________________________

Not really.
The only rule of thumb is, don't fit it if you can't afford to lose it.

You notice the difference when your skills are higher, and mostly when you're using large guns. Max skill pimped out sleeper bashing Loki, maybe ( fitting is kinda hard sometimes ). PvP hurricane, no.

Yeah pretty much this. Due to the way eve handles damage mods as a multiplyer the higher the base damage and lower the rof the greater the final effect on your dps and volley. Thats why putting faction damage mods on frigs with the low damage and high rof is kinda pointless unless you reaaaaaly need that cpu. The slicer is the only frigate I use navy heatsinks on for that reason but I get them at cost from the lp store so its no biggie if I lose some. Battlecruisers otoh can get a decent dps buff off them too but its not enough of a buff to justify the cost imo.

Most common use is L4 mission ship in highsec, where you pretty much know for a fact that you won't lose them.
