Excuse me support guys, but how can you ask your customers to click on your linked website(s) and ask for a petition, which actually shows that :
Quote: Hackers are spamming our forums with links leading to key-loggers/Trojans and then ruining the accounts of players that navigate to those links.
You have chosen to follow an external link. This link leads to a site outside of the control of CCP and, as such, we cannot offer any guarantee of its safety. Please check that the URL shown below is what you expected it to be before following it.
If you wish to proceed please click the link below, or press your browsers back button to return to where you were.
Ehrm, Pardon?
1.I assume you arenŠt hackers, are you. 2.This isntŠt a keylogger i guess. 3.This isnt actually an external link. it IS related to ccp content.
Well I could write 2 or 3 more reasons,.........
Maybe you could verify YOUR OWN links as trusted ones, please. Thanks.

Edited by: Spades Slick on 04/07/2010 00:38:24 Umm, simple really. The system automatically flags anything that isn't www.eveonline.com, as that is the host of the link. Notice: The forums are in the domain of www.eveonline.com. The forum code (not CCP) likely flags anything that doesn't have the exact same domain as the forum.
The message, though, even says:
Quote: Please check that the URL shown below is what you expected it to be before following it.
What happens if someone tries to link you to something like support.eveon1ine.com or something similar? If you don't double-check the URL, then you pay the price when you get taken to a keylogger/trojan site.
This is far from the only website to have confirmation when you leave its domain. Many wikis and other sites with some sort of 'membership' aspect also have this confirmation page.
You're getting worked up about nothing, to be honest.

If it REALLY bothers you that much that CCP puts up a friendly disclaimer, install THIS in your Firefox and stop whining.

Edited by: James Wilton on 04/07/2010 18:03:38 The OP's got a point. People should read more carefully next time before responding.
It's like CCP asking you to click their suggested link then tells you afterwards click at your own risk.

Well, maybe we should leave it like this at this point now. Thank you for responding on this. I appreciate your reaction.

IŠtŠs not a link. ItŠs the official petition of CCP which is in beforehand warning you of viruses.
And THIS is the problem. Maybe referring to those contents should be managed otherwise ;) than just posting on forums. you know. make it more serious.....
