Hello,
I'm a pure Amarr Pilot. While others shoot explosives or projectiles, I shoot light. However, this seems to be very noneffective against Guristas. For Example, A Gurista Conquistador has the shield resists of:
EM/EXP/KIN/THERM - 70/60/40/50 (approx)
So, EM and Therm are rather ineffective. This is very bad for lazors, considering that close-range crystals do more EM damage. After I spent nearly 2 minutes trying to kill said ship in my pulse Abaddon, and then watching as my friend in a torm Golem finished one off in 3-4 volleys, I realized how bad my situation is.
I cannot effectively make money nearly as quick as my mates in other races. So, what should I do?
Should I just cross train into Caldari (Will take a very long time to get missile skills up (Got 10 mil in Turrets, but just 0.5 mil in Missiles)
Or should I cross train into Gallente with Blasters (Not as long as I already have turret skills)
Or is there a decent PvE ship I can use with Amarr?
Thanks!
Zab

Yeah, go mission in Amarr space and see Bloods and Sansha's melt under your zealous rays of light.
Otherwise: crosstrain or fit arties on your Abaddon ^_^

Depending on how dedicated you are and how much isk you're willing to spend I would shoot for a Mach. They're pretty nasty against guristas. You could just max amarr for a paladin. anytime you're doing 1000+ dps w/scorch be in pally or NM the rats are gonna die pretty fast no matter the res. they have. --

Well, Bloodraiders are really easy for amaarian ships to bring down..
Anyway - to help you out on your topic, the easiest would proberly be to train towards Gallenteans ships/guns since you already got the support gunnery skills.. The best would be to go towards the all missile loving Caldari, why would anyone fly the gray shi-t ships of missile spamage people always ask.. That's easy, they can choose EXCATLY what kind of damage type to use, making them the "best" NPC hunting ships there is...
I must say that i really enjoy killing all sort of NPC's with my 40km range Blaster Mega with ~1300 dps..
Almost forgot, drones, you can also in drones choose specificily what kind of damage to use. So you could bring the largest amount of the biggest baddest drones you can field in the "primary" damage type vs. the current NPC's.
And since you always need to dock to request/accept a new mission it should not be too hard to switch to the drones.. |

Thanks for the replies, I'm now training Gallente Cruiser lvl 4.... Megathron, here I come! (As part of an alliance who holds space in Guristas areas, shooting Blood Raider isn't much of an option for me ) _____________________________________________

True - thats a bummar, but i promish you, a Megathron with Blasters - tracking enchancers - mag stabs and Null ammo - you deliver a deadly impact to those dirty Guristas Pirates... Perhaps try to put 5 medium drones in you Abaddon and see if it helps - Thermal is the most frequent secondary damage type to deal vs the NPC's.. |

eww galente? best to cross class to when you are pure amarr is caldari, 2 thing t2/t3 amarr stuff use missiles , and sansha pirate ships.
eww galente with blatsers? good look chasing gurista bs that orbit a 35-50kms, i prefer to shoot them with my tachies , trying to chase them is a waste of time
and tbh ill just look for an l4 amarr agent near galente space , probably in genesis region like this one 8 jumps from dodixie, yet you need to check its constellation he might send you to low sec a lot (thx for the awesome patch ccp)

just use tachyons with amarr navy multifrequency -you should be able to do a lot of damage - up to about 51km where the farthest ships orbit. If you can drive nightmare or pallie you wouldn't have any fitting problems either

^ This
I only have Caldari Navy Lvl4 agents, so most of my missions are Gurista ones.
My Tach Paladin throws out so much damage that NPC resists are basically irrelevant.

Wrong on multiple counts. First, thermal isn't "rather ineffective", it's the second-lowest resistance on the rat you listed. Second, close-range crystals to more Thermal damage, not EM. So the implications are obvious -- when facing Gurista (or Angels or Serpentis, by the way), switch to multifrequency crystals and get in close.
Also, I notice you are using a pulse Abaddon, which is a starship made of failure. Either use a pulse Apocalypse (whose range bonus lets you use short-range crystals at much longer range), or use a tachyon Abaddon. (Navypoc, Navygeddon, Paladin, and Nightmare are also decent options.)

Crosstrain cadari instead. Combined with Amar, you get Nightmare to fry sansha/blood rats fast. You already have laser skills for NM. Missile boats for anything non-amarr. Missile skills take less SP to train than either drone or hybrid, and is far more effective pve than hybrid.

Yeah I feel your pain. Shooting Guristas sssuuucccksss with lasers, even MF. I trained Caldari in your shoes... the Mega and Hype are pretty poor mission runners tbh. The Domi/NDomi/Rattlesnake is what's interesting.

nightmare. I find it the best "amarr" based ship to use. Go ahead and clap. Mediocrity deserves applause. Why don't we go find Pandemic Legion and clap around them! |
