I've been waiting for a market thread on this, but none have been made. What are the speculations about what will happen to ore and ice prices.
Personally I believe ice and low end ore prices will climb (last Hulkageddon the ice prices spiked enormously). High end ores probably won't be affected because they come from nulsec. Ore and ice products are pretty much at an all time low right now, stockpiling for the inevitable rise might be prudent. --------------------------- Full Explanation of the Industry Index System |

If prices rise it will be because of speculation and nothing else...

If we could produce and sell sigars, I would generate a booming business ;-)

That's not entirely true, some of us are selling heaps of them... Long may hulkageddon last.

this is the first year i've been actively following the market around hulkageddon, so i might be wrong, but some changes will occur to high sec ores.
the supply will drop a bit and demand will remain fairly stable or rise, thus probably forcing an increase in mineral value. This is not counting the obvious stockpiled minerals that will hit the market at the start.
another thing to keep in mind is the fact that some ships will be bought in insane quantities...the catalyst comes to mind, which was completely sold out in Jita since hulkageddon 1.
on the other hand, this is a well known event so i'm assuming older players are well prepared for it with stockpiled minerals, ships, modules and so on, so the probable price spike for ice/low end ores will not be as drastic as in past years. |

Dunno. About six months ago when the last HAG stroke, I thought I would make a killing of increased mineral price and... well there was a slight increase, nothing terrific tho. Now THIS time, the changes to missioning might in fact impact the mineral production some more. I wouldn't expect a huge shift tho. |

The price of Ice products had crashed hard since Tyrannis down by over 30%. However it looks like somebody thinks it will make them money I noticed 10 of millions of units of each left the market over the weekend at very low prices.

Does the eve quarterly report offer any usage statistics on ice products? It'd be interesting to see -1. What portion of ice gets used by POS, as opposed to cyno jumping, and -2. Whether the increased costs of running a POS post PI has impacted consumption of ice products through a change in the number running.
Retired from corp sales. Time to spend some of this on pretty explosions :) |

There was no mention of it as far as I can recall. I'd wager that POS usage has dropped significantly though, in response to more expensive fuel through PI. Eventually it'll balance out though. A week after the last hulkageddon ozone hit 600isk/unit, right now it's at a record low of 200-210isk/unit. If we see half the spike of last time it'll be an amazing investment opportunity --------------------------- Full Explanation of the Industry Index System |

Frankly I think that an event like this will ahve it's uptick before teh event not after.
People aren't going to be running out to replace their armageddons or whatnot After the event and repacing a Hulk don't exacly impact the mineral market. It isn't going to stop people form mining. People wll gripe about it but replace them rather quickly. Mining will continue at the same pace. --------------------------------------------------- Have Rail's. Will travel.

Under the last HG, the Prices did go up, and had a peak 1-2 weeks after: Trit was up 20%, and Pye, Mex around 7-8% Source: Marked history jita 4-4

Check out the ozone market the last few days. Someone is manipulating it down from its stable point of 210/unit down to 177 and placing massive buy orders. So either someone is dumping massive stock right now, which wouldn't explain why there are dozens of high bulk spontaneous buy orders posted in the last few hours. Or someone has pushed it down and placed bulk buy orders to gather stockpiles cheaper. /tinFoilHat --------------------------- Full Explanation of the Industry Index System |

That could just as well have been a spike due to IER since that was pretty rampart back then and made prices go up and down depending on profitability and how many were actively doing it at that specific time.
