My corp has recently decided they want a POS. I've discussed the logistics of owning a POS to them and tehy've decided they would like to try to put one in lowsec which means we need to raise our average standins up a bit.
I have two questions:
What are all the ways I can gain standing with a faction?
What would be teh best and/or fastest method of gaining standing?
I am aware that if I dropped people from teh corp my standings owuld raise to my current level allowing me to drop the POS. However I do not want to go that route. They are willing to put in the work. I'd just like to help streamline the process. --------------------------------------------------- Have Rail's. Will travel.

There are a few things you could do.
The easiest is courier missions. In a good system you can hit a storyline every couple of hours. Start by having everyone fleet to the highest standing member and have him share his rewards for running missions. This won't give the members faction standing but will allow their corp standings to increase until they can run their own L3 couriers.
I say L3 because they offer good standing/time over level 4s. You will get storylines much more often running level 2 and 3 couriers. Yes, even level 2s. Level 2 agents will offer you 'whispers in the dark' more often than not. This is a good mission for faction standing and can be run in about 10 minutes.
Second is a combo of regular and COSMOS missions. This can give you faction standing very quickly. Run the cosmos until you can't move up to the next agent and than fill the gap with regular missions until the next one becomes available.
A good COSMOS guide can be found here. Note: as it is a bablefish tranlation you may have to refresh your browser after hitting the link.
That should be enough info to get you started.

this is assming yuou can run lvl 4 missions solo...
get soemoen to chare standings with you till you an use the desired agent you will use.
run lvl 4's the storyline missions will help a heap. also once at 4.0++ faction standing. do some data bank agents to raise sttangings more. Go ahead and clap. Mediocrity deserves applause. Why don't we go find Pandemic Legion and clap around them! |

only way to raise faction standings or lower them is to do story line missions or hand in dog tags with teh data centres agents.

Running FW Missions or grining plex's will help every base 1.0 standing you gain with State Pro will get you a promotion and those promotions come with state standing. (or the same for any race)

Another factor to consider if you aren't set on a specific region, and especially as you are looking for lowsec space, would be to look at going with a smaller faction such as ammatar or khanid. As a smaller faction I believe you gain standings faster for the same storyline missions, as compared to doing them for the larger empires. This might not be correct, but I believe faction size is part of the equation in standings gains.

This is a suggestion, only, based upon some anecdotal information.
If I'm correct, corp standing with a faction is, in part, a weighted average of the corp standing with all corp members. If so, a quick-and-dirty option for a modestly sized corp would be to have the members with the worst standing leave for a short time (about 10-14 days).
The corp standing SLOWLY rises as the weighted average is recalculated over time. During that period, the remaining members work HARD at raising their individual standing with the desired faction.
Upon reaching the desired standing, the POS is anchored. Thereafter, the members who are waiting in the wings can return.
If he is willing to speak with you, I would suggest a polite email be sent to the CEO of EACS... the corp that provides very low-cost Jump Clone services. Estel Arador is very well informed and very helpful.
<ahem> If he does give some of his time and expertise, it would not be inappropriate for your corp to offer a contribution to his corp for his time and effort.
Best of luck |

Can I ask a sort of related question (apologies for hijack :) )?
If you are in a fleet and the main person is running lvl 4s and then gets a storyline mission and runs it (say the fleet consists of 2 ppl) does the standing gain for that storyline get split between both players?
I've been told that this does not happen and the increase only goes to the main person who is running the missions.

for a lowsec pos you don't need standings. (assuming of course you didn't mean 0.4 as lowsec, as that is just silly)

COSMOS is hands down the fastest way to build standing
forget grinding level 4's or whatever for what you're talking about, that's a complete waste of time. you can go from 0 to around 7 with a faction in maybe 2 weeks tops with Cosmos. probably faster if you really sit there and grind them out. there's no way in hell you could ever do that running missions, courier or combat or whatever

At the risk of getting flamed for not googling but can I run COSMOS missions if I have a negative standing with a certain faction? And we're talking lower than -5 (although I do have diplomacy to V which brings it to approx -3). |

NOT true.
You can lose standing by doing average every day missions that require you to shoot at faction ships. Like when caldari are blowing up wildlife preserves or the amarians are trying to infect a planet with a dirty bomb.
completeing that mission will cause standing lose. "My name is legion, for we are many" |

We are eyeing a .2 system actually. It was my understanding that we had to feed charters and have a whole value faction standing in proportion to the security status of the system. In this case I thouhgt we would need a 2.0 standing wiht Amaar for a .2 system or a 7.0 standing to put one in a .7 system.

COSMOS missions come in levels 1,2,3,4 etc so if you can run a regular level 1 i guess you could run a cosmos level 1. dunno though

For 0.1 through 0.3 space (and of course nullsec), you don't need any standings to anchor a POS, though you do need charters IIRC. For 0.4 through 0.8, you need standings (the same as you said, 7.0 for a 0.7 sec system) and charters. No anchoring in 0.9 or 1.0, just to make it complete.

I've taken a look at the COSMOS guide that Mr Epeen posted in this thread earlier and from what I can see, the lowest agent still requires a faction standing of -2 (had a quick look on the eve client this morning) but my faction standing is just under -3.
I can run level 1 agents (have access to at least 3) but the time it's taking to get to a -2 is horrendous - considering I've not had problems running 4's in the past, having to drop down and run hundreds (yes you did read that right) of lvl 1s is starting to take it's toll on my sanity
And yes I am blitzing them

Demi Lazerusfrom , Taspar Zolankorand and Nikmar Jyran took 3 tags each and not 10 as stated in EVElopedia. The other Amarr agents worked as per EVElopedia info. I've experienced great Amarr Empire faction standings increase (from effective 5.40 to 6.84) and absolutely amazing increase in Ministry of War standings from 1.88 to 7.30. Cost about 430kk (did not bother placing buy orders). If you donĘt care where you are, you ainĘt lost. |

The above link lists a lot of different agent types that all give Faction Standing boost.
I don't understand why you didn't check 'Faction Standing Repair Plan' that was linked way earlier in this thread.
