if that's your "thing", then fight the power, brother! don't let the white man keep you down! and such
for the rest of us without emotional problems and a stuck caps lock button, it's a 10 day inconvenience at best. if you're frightened by explosions or pvp, either HTFU or stop playing this game, it's as easy as that. go play wow where dying means traveling for a couple of mins max.
if you know how to mine properly, you won't lose many ships and you'll earn enough money to make it worth it. |

Well, I tried, and tried.
But, I'm afraid I cannot understand what it is you mean. I'm not even sure what you're angry about.
Oh well
Goes back to mining

I fly 3 hulks and I am upset about the event also.
However, it will stimulate the economy and when it is all over, us miners will have a good price at the market for the minerals and raw ore we mine.
I believe there are too many miners these days, I love mining and its my primary career on all of my accounts. Macro mining is annoying us miners, more so than Hulk'a'G-Day and its affects will ever be. I say GO FOR IT LADS! KILL ALL OF US HULK PILOTS! (Caps intended).
Maybe the pvp guys could ask the hulk pilot if they are a macro first, no reply in 1 minute, then gank them.
I will be on holiday anyway while all this is going on ;)

In reality Hulkagaden is more of an assault on macro miners than anyone else. To the rest it's like Reyona said; mostly a slight inconvenience.

I'd like to see the Miners of EvE unit, there would be so many advantages for them but I'm afraid it will NEVER happen.
Why?
It takes a special kind of independent bloody mindedness to sit for hour after hour in a belt stripping it clean, that combined with a certain recidivism and a plain old fashioned desire to be alone and left alone with ones own thoughts in the depths of space far from the petty concerns of corp politics and infighting. I know, I have mined for looooong stretches in the past and will do so again in the future.
This mind set does not lend itself easily to large scale communal efforts and there is the heart of the problem, organizing the HiSec miners of EvE in to a cohesive force would very much be like trying to herd cats.
Btw could you stop shouting your hurting my ears.

Yes please, Miner of Eve unite, So I propose a hulk meetup in Hek, Planet 1 tomorrow 1900 Eve time. The more hulks we bring the more power to the miners and we can show the rest of Eve how big of a force we are. We should be able to cover that planet in hulks.

Yes lets all go to the same system to make it a lot easier for gankers to locate and kill everyone. You will not kill anything in a hulk / retriever / osprey etc, I don't care how many of you gang up, your best strategy is to frustrate the hulkagedonerds, create warp to spots 300km from one another in a belt and jump from one to another in the same belt. Let them chase you around until they get bored.
As a miner I know one thing is certain, we can endure a lot longer then ANY pvp pilot and that is our advantage. We can operate even with hulkageddon if we are smart and tactical.
Clustering has it's advantage but it also makes us easier to locate. Either way fly safe and fly insured ships.
Covetors and retrievers can be insured and are a lot cheaper to replace in case of an oopsie.

bottom line is this: if you're a dedicated miner, you know how to mine and most or every trick in the book that goes with it. if you're new, getting blown up is the perfect incentive to learn how to do it properly.
if you lose ships while paying attention, you're kinda doing it wrong. so as a friendly message to all the whining miners, less QQ more HTFU. i'm prob not gonna fly the orca, but instead go with hulks on all accounts and get some noobs to do the hauling. other than little changes like this, it's a perfectly normal week for me and most proper miners.
it actually is the perfect timing for me...finally convinced a few irl mates to switch from wow, they just got the basic skills to try out mining. what better way to introduce a bunch of new potential miners to EVE than with Hulkageddon in their first week.

I had fun with 'geddon last time. I am not a dedicated miner, but can fly a retriever and tanked it up as best I could (DCU, armor rigs, etc.) and managed to survive 4 gank attempts before succumbing to the 5th :). IF you bring combat drones, you can even get the kill instead of Concord. Most of the attempts on retrievers seem to be the more novice gankers (but not all!), so you might be surprised at how well you can do. Hang out in a decently high sec system and have high sec status yourself, it helps. We might try logistics ships with shield reppers to see if that can keep a barge or exhumer afloat if they are tanked right. It isn't about the efficiency (keeping a Scimitar as overhead protection is terribly time-wasteful), it is more about having some fun with it.

5 gank attempts on a retriever

Yeah, the guy who got me was a corp mate of one of the guys who got 'corded while trying to gank me. I think this old setup in EFT is what I was using (can't trust my memory as to whether I changed it in practice):
[Retriever, Gank Tank - Shield] F85 Peripheral Damage System I Co-Processor I
Medium F-S9 Regolith Shield Induction
Strip Miner I Strip Miner I
Medium Core Defence Field Extender I Medium Core Defence Field Extender I Medium Anti-Thermal Screen Reinforcer I
7400 EHP or so in EFT, but I have a couple of shield implants that add a couple hundred to that; also, the thermal rig is put on with antimatter in mind (seems to be the gank-ammo of choice)and you get a few hundred more against it. A typical barge has around 2,300 EHP, give or take, so you have more than tripled your EHP. You will have to do some hull repping, if you live

I can't believe how many miners think this way. It's embarrassing really. You decide theprice of minerals you mine. I never EVER sell at market prices, I also have to wait but I always sell ALL my minerals at the price I choose. I have rules about percentage. If I can't get the price I'm after I run missions to make isk while storing minerals I can't sell.
There is NO excuse for the market tanking and lowering mineral prices other them players like you. You make your own price not the other way around.
