Hi all. Was wondering about this, I purchased a corp with high standings to erect a pos in highsec, the standings are now down to the low + side. The current CEO's standings are in the low +'s with factions. The corp is fairly young, few weeks old. If teh current CEO resigns and a member with 9+ standings with factions take the position will that increase teh over all standing of the corporation with the factions? Thanks again for your help.

Standings are a moving average of all members since the last standing change to any member. So if you have a 9+ as the only member, they will move to the 9's after he has one standings change.
You can then do whatever needs done while the standings are high enough (Anchoring) and the POS will remain anchored if standings drop when you put new members in.

That's the old system, it has been simplified since then.
Corp standings are the average standings of all members with non-zero standings. The corp standings are calculated daily, taking into account all members who have been in the corp for at least 7 days (whether or not they are active).
(Note that a standing displayed as 0.0 is non-zero rounded down.)
In the situation described by OP, someone with high standings could join the corp. Then 7 days after that, the one with low standings leaves the corp for one downtime. At this point the corp standings will be equal to the standings of the member with high standings. After the downtime, the one with low standings can join again and the corp will have 7 days to place a tower in high sec.
