Possible market exploit ? DonÆt know where to start on this but here goÆs, i put 7 vagaÆs up for sale in yz- the other day i.e. about 3 days ago, looked last night before i went to bed and they where still for sale cheapest in station and reign, looked this morning when i got up and market showed that they had gone, looked at my wallet and i go like wtf because there was no money in there at all from the sale of those 7 vagaÆs , so i take a look at the transactions on my accounts and not a single one got any isk for them it is like they totally disappeared, but when i looked at market, someone this morning at about 4am eve time cleared the market in station of all ships and then put 4 back up for sale at the same time for the same price i was selling my vagaÆs for 124.999.997 isk, name of owner with-held for pet ion purposeÆs, they where put up in quantities of 2.1.1 i ended up having to buy 3 of those vagaÆs to try and find out what was going on, i spoke to some people on ts about this a few mins ago and someone told me a friend of thereÆs had the same thing happen to them about 3 weeks ago, so i am doing this post to inform people that there may well be a market exploit in some way or form in operation at the mo and to be very carful with market at the mo, what with all there pi trading and such going on at the mo,
Sorry if this seems a little long winded but at the mo i am a little pi++ed of f and angry

Are you sure you didn't put in a shorter order than you thought. If it expired it will be in your hangar after tomorrow's downtime.

That's what I am thinking too.
24 hour instead of 3 month or something. I paniced and was ****ed once. I actually realized it later and checked an API Program that grabs market orders to see. And it was indeed 24 hour order.
Use any program you like to grab your API Market orders and look for them there. It'll have if it expired, if it did, then you'll get them after Downtime.
If not, petition it, you'll get em back.

Edited by: Hel O''Ween on 07/07/2010 17:08:09 There was a similar report on the german EVE forum a few days ago. http://www.eveger.de/forum/showthread.php?t=32156 (for german speaking people to check).
This involved a buy order. Basically only parts of the buy order was fullfilled, but the remaining escrow money wasn't returned to the wallet. The order also hasn't expired yet.
The provided API snippet (bits were "xxx"'ed by the poster in the forum)
<row orderID="1643966488" charID="xx" stationID="xx" volEntered="200000" volRemaining="115084" minVolume="1" orderState="2" typeID="xx" range="-1" accountKey="1000" duration="90" escrow="0.00" price="17100.00" bid="1" issued="2010-06-26 19:16:50"/>
is strange in the way that the order was set up on June 26th for a duration of 90 days. 200,000 units were requested, a few were bought, but 115,054 units were still outstanding.
Now, the strange thing in this API snippet is the orderState flag: 2, which means according to the API documentation "Fullfilled/Expired". Both clearly isn't the case here.
I suggested to that player to file a bug report.
Quofeous, could you query your wallet API (transaction and journal) and see what it tells you about that order? -- EVEWalletAware - an offline wallet manager |

Edited by: Afra Raven on 07/07/2010 21:08:33 This sounds serious.
I never experienced something similiar but i know of the so called "stealth" order bug/whatever. In short, if a sell order expired and no new other sell order below that expired one is placed you buy from the "expired" now invisible one. Those "stealth" orders will stay until next DT. Cost me some 100m to realize what happens, petitioned it but the GM said that this is a known Market behaviour, no cash return.

Same thing happened to me when selling a raven about a month ago. The ship disappeared, but I got no isk. It took about a week for gm to fix problem. I think it happened around downtime, perhaps someone tried to buy just as server went down, causing problem. This was on a contract though.

I had something very similar happen to me recently. I had about 5 billion worth of stuff for sale, in 1 order, and the order expired. But my stuff never showed up in station or anywhere else. I filed a petition and it reappeared a little bit later, but I don't know if it was an admin or if it just came back on it's own.
Definitely a bug of some sort, as I checked with extreme care - it was 5b after all!

it's common issue. when order expires assets will reappear on next downtime. it's described in knowledge base (in-game, check "?" on top right corner of market window). ________________________________ : Forum Bore 'Em : Foamy The Squirrel - [jedi handwave] "There is no spoon." |

The above mentioned buy order irregularity has been explained by a GM, although the player needed to raise the petition to a senior GM in order to receive the right answer. And I'm glad he did, as I learned something new about the API this way.
What happened: Said player has Margin Trading skilled. The sold items from that order were payed off from the escrow. Another attempt to sell items to this buy order caught the player with an empty wallet, therefore his buy order was automatically canceled. A game mechanic we're all well aware of. What other players and I and even the first GMs responding to the petition didn't know: if that happens, the API will flag that order with orderState 2 = Expired/Canceled.
I would have expected either orderState 1 (Closed) or 3 (Canceled) in such a case. -- EVEWalletAware - an offline wallet manager |
