Had two instances of ships that logged of instantly disappearing last night (i.e. just disappearing, not warping out randomly).
One was an enemy Tempest with about 2% structure left (originally we thought he must have popped; turns out he vanished instead...)
The other was a corp mate who had to log off in space - another member who was with him at the time commented that his ship "just vanished" without warping out as soon as he logged.
Anyone else experienced this?

CCP really arnet intersted. Complained about this many times. Its blatently obvious that the player logged because he was going to lose his ship but CCP say its impossible to prove. Therefore its not an exploit and completely legal.

Sorry, the point I'm making is that the delay after logging off in space is no longer there.
The ship should be present for 1 minute IIRC after logging off. Instead it just disappears.

That should be 3 minutes if he's engaged in PVP. If you can reproduce the instance which will make the ship disappear in less time, please submit a bug report. It's 1 minute in PVE.
Just to make sure, that means a step-by-step way to make your own ship disappear faster, not "I saw this guy do it". A common mistake with ships disappearing fast is that the guy simply logged of quite some time ago.
Oh, and please don't use the addressbook notifications as a measure when the other player logs out. It's inaccurate. _____________________________ I say hey sky, s'other say I won say, I pray to J I get the same ol' same ol. |

I had a pod warp scrambled and webbed the other day. Stared firing on it and got the message capsule is exploding or something. It then just vanished, no corpse, no pod kill, no map pod kill and the guy reappears in local 10mins later alive and well

Was there lag at the time, Eve seems to operate quite often on client side presumptions. IE it assumes that actions have been completed when they in fact haven't.
I've warped out with my ship intact a number of times to have the screen do its funny wibbly thing mid warp and ending up at a planet in a pod.
Maybe it was the same thing in reverse. He had warped out with his pod when your pc just assumed that it had succesfully scrambled it.

Yeah, the "Capsule is exploding" message is damn common as it warps out a millisecond too early for the attacker.

Nah. Must be a temporal rupture in the space-time continuum... |

Interesting...
I might know of a way of being able to skip the PVP timer, I'll just have to check some stuff to verify it. I thought you guys already knew it, which is why I never bothered with a bug report. I don't know of any way of making it instant though.
What's the timer for neither pvp nor pve?

There is defintivly still a way to let ship disapear in very short time (much less than 3 minutes, more like 20 seconds). I dont know how these exploiters do it but we had several of these guys too. Ovrour, what happens if the guys jumps, logs out and loggs in his alt while his loggin in screen is already open on a second PC??? What i can say is that there is definitvly still a trick - i canŠt find out how they do it.

yes. i have found in the past that re-logging, with same character, don't have an alt, kicks the "other you" out of the server. tested this a long time ago when a friend of mine stopped by who was logged on at home, and logged in a 2nd windowed client and it immediately unlogged the other session at his house and logged him onto my computer. this was a loooong time ago, so things may have changed.
there is a fine, but dissasterous line between a fart and a shart. i suggest you make sure which side you want to be on... |

Might be "the trick" to log on the same char .
I propose a loggin message:"you cannot loggon because you are warpscrambled and currently toasted by guys you wanted to betray - wait for your clone" and maybe a nice window:
"FECHTING CLONE DATA"
But seriuos now. If this is the problem, loggin should be delayed 3 minutes to prevent logoff-exploiters to do this trick. Bad for the community that there are always some people that want to cheat, because some guys really crash and have to wait 3 minutes.
But i dont know if this causes the ship to disapear after 20 seconds. Test s1 plz who has 2 EVE clients installed.

I'd estimate that half of the ships we've chased lately have logged off, and they have still warped off even while warp scambled in some cases. ______________________________________________ "Every battle is won or lost before it is ever fought." -Sun Tsu |
