So this isn't clear, but if you have a plex in your cargo hold and your ship is about to blow up, can you apply to your account, before your ship blows up? If so, then LOL and no one will ever be able to get one as loot from a wreck.

No.
You still must redeem them in a station. The change is that it can now be any station, not just NPC stations, and that PLEX can actually be transported in a hold. You must still be docked to apply it to your account.

I thought redeeming is the act of getting an item (a PLEX) into the game.
Applying it is something else.

1. Redeeming is something different, we are talking about activating PLEX
2. Where did you get that info from anyway? Quote from dev blog: "We will remove the restriction that items (including PLEX) can only be redeemed into NPC stations"

IE: they can also be activated in Player-Owned Stations constructed in null-sec (not to be confused with a PoS tower)

Even if you could apply it in space, do you think you'd have time?
If it's a highsec gate gank in a hauler or smaller ship you're dead before you know you're a target.
And I highly suspect that the people at risk to lose a PLEX in their hold are the same ones that can't manage to get their pod out after losing a ship either. PVP reflexes aren't their strong-point. |
